You act like you have no reading comprehension skills. Beasley's QB averaged 50 less attempts per season, in seasons that were 10 regular season games, and a bowl. Who Leo has played in 87% of the number of games Beasley did, and only acheived roughly 66% of the total stats in receptions and yards, is @ 2 ypc behind Beasley, and has just a a bit over 1/4 the TDs. Not to mention the things like Who Leo's size and speed vs Beasley's (though I doubt Beasley was slow), and the fact that today's passing game is much more advanced than 40 years ago. Beasley was, depending on the stat, as or far more prolific in a day when passing wasn't nearly as cool.

By today's standards, Beasley and Sullivan would still be a prolific duo...in 1969-71, they were light years ahead of their time in passing and receiving. In the Auburn record book, Beasley still appears in the top 10 (mostly in the top 5) of every receiving record...the majority of the others in the top ten in the receiving catagories came from at least 25 years later.

I would rate Who leo at about #4 or #5...in the SEC. He might be as good as Green, Childs or Hodge but I think those guys get open moreso with less weapons surrounding them. Bama doesn't connect deep often enough to give them that added dimension. So where is Mr. Jones? Are his less than two touches per game due to a corch playing it so close to the vest?
Beasley (sub 4.5?) was the best in the SEC throughout his playing career.

Saying a coach is "playing it so close to the vest" sounds to me like a fault. Since a Heisman trophy was given to a player playing on offense for Alabama last year I think that says that Alabama's coaches used the personnel they had correctly.

As for Julio's two touches per game, that stat doesn't reflect the 15 passes a game that rickashayed off his hands.

JP Wilson seems reckless compared to Greg McElroy. With that kind of talent Saban should be able to out-perform with a safe strategy. Still sound derogatory? I don't recall Beasley dropping many and yes, Julio tends to fend-off quite a few potential receptions.

I get your point. On a lighter note, when watching a game and Julio clanks one off his hands my wife will yell out random things like "Stick save by Julio!" in an announcer voice. I've gotten to where I just shake my head and laugh.

Yes she did. She's funny. I hadn't been to a batting cage in 15 years and i got a wild hair. I was right next to this dude that looked the part, he was obviously a ball player. I couldn't hit anything but gnats and after every swing my wife would say "good job, baby", "you're doing good". The dude was laughing and I turned around and told her to stop with the encouraging stuff. I turned back around and took another shameful swing and from behind me I hear a long "Youuuu Suuuuuuuuck." Yeah I took my then thiteen year old to a cage and he was whining about the equipment misfiring and I told him if he could hit, he ought to be able to use a broomstick. He finally suckered me in there and I was humbled by managing only to foul a few off. So it made him feel a little better to see the old man struggle. I however had two acres and a push mower hee, hee ! This lawn mower was a running phuking freak machine too. Nothing would stop it in fact it still runs in semi retirement. Advantage Dad!

I was more speaking to the coaches goal being to win games rather than to max Julio's stats. By that regard, I don't think they played things too close to the vest by not throwing to him as much as they probably could have, and instead, continuing a power run offense. I get what he was saying though and it makes sense.

Saban's O spreads it around very efficiently. I think it is exactly as he wants it and why change it? This isn't the NFL. He probably could run out of the T formation with a superior defense such as last seasons but might need to air it more in the coming season. And if they find themselves in a dogfight early on it will be interesting to see how he adjusts. And I'm not talking about a fake punt or field goal which is generally a ploy not part of a strategy.
