RunningbackU: Auburn or USC?

You know it's the offseason when I'm posting a pointless blog about a relatively pointless subject, but hey. We're short on material.

The Ultimate "Runningback U." Auburn or USC?

I am a huge Auburn fan, and on occasion I like to brag about how Auburn is "Runningback U", only to be told by rival fans that USC (Southern Cal) is the REAL runningback U. Some say Auburn is the runningback u of the east and USC is the runningback u of the west. Which had me thinking who is the ultimate runningback u?  Well I did some research and have listed, side by side, the amount of quality runningbacks that have come from each school. My criteria is as such.

    * ran for at least 2,000 career rushing yards over 3-4 years.
    * If they were a transfer from another school and only had 1-2 years, then they had to have at least 1,400 career rushing yards.
    * DOES NOT have to be a trophy winner.
    * I did not count Reggie Bush seeing as he was ineligable his whole career, still a great runningback though.

Here is the list of great runningbacks from Auburn and Southern Cal. (In no particular order.)

Auburn                                USC

Bo Jackson                    O.J. Simpson

Carnell Williams           Marcus Allen

James Brooks               Charles White

Joe Cribbs                      Ricky Bell

Stephen Davis                Mike Garret

Brent Fullwood                LenDale White

Rudi Johnson                  Jon Arnett

Ronnie Brown

Kenny Irons

James Bostic

*You could make an

argument for Ben Tate and Tucker Fredrickson.*

(Ben Tate had 1,959 career rushing yards

So it looks like Auburn has produced more quality runningbacks all time and in recent history. I think that Auburn is the ultimate "Runningback U."

AU looks to be the winnah but, you can't leave Reggie Bush off.  Hell, Brent Fullwood didn't even go to Auburn.  Besides, I like Reggie now that he's the cause of toppling the ivory tower.

I shocked that Tucker Fredrickson's career numbers aren't that high.

3 years, 260 attempts, 4.15ypc, 1079 total.  I figured he'd be close to 2000.

Of course, he did split time with Jimmy Sidel.

Forgot Lionel James as well.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."
