What's happening in your town that weekend?  Where else should I be looking?

July 4th weekend is the Essence Festival in New Orleans.  200K people in the streets of downtown NOLA in July.  Soul food and zydeco.  You would fit right in...

I make it a point to NEVER take a vacation on the 4th of July.  Growing up/living in a tourist town has soured me on all the major warm weather holidays.  That festival sounds like I'd be amongst  my people, though.

If you weren't such a gaping pussy, I'd suggest you break away, too.  Perhaps there is a CLE in B'ham that weekend for the PI crowd.

Mostly...I remember singing "Possum Kingdom" with some random black girl at the Upper Deck.  And we rocked some "Wanted Dead or Alive".  As always, Jumbo kicked the party off proper with "Nothin But A G Thang".

I'll check with the Hotel De L.E. to see if I can crash there.  Otherwise, I might hit you up for couch space.

My job has me working in Toronto now.  The client, the hotel staff and others who live in Toronto are begging me not to be onsite that week.  They don't want my view of the city to be influenced by the freak show. 

You'd also have to wonder how both events would be scheduled at the same time...  But, we all know how that happened.

I agree. I used to frequent Bham a lot in the 80's and 90's as I had family there. Its not what it used to be but still a fun town nonetheless.
