Quote
Recent NCAA legislation to curtail the practice of coaching staffs renting luxury automobiles to tour high schools during the spring evaluation period did not change any ongoing recruiting practices at Alabama, according to Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban.

"We never really ever chose to do that, and we didn't choose to do it this year," Saban said tonight. "We knew that after April 28th, we wouldn't be able to do it, so we just decided not to do it."

The NCAA outlawed coaching staffs from having more than two assistants visiting schools together. Auburn is known for its "Tiger Prowl," but other programs like Florida State and Georgia had started imitating the practice.

"It was supposed to be an evaluation period," Saban said. "Obviously, if you send five or six coaches to a place, you're not trying to evaluate. You're trying to emotionally impress somebody with what you're doing. ... The workload of the way we try to cover things, you get more people more places by not doing it. But everybody's got to manage their program the way they want to. We really and truly do try to do it as an evaluation."

Saban is on the other side of the fence because he didn't think of an Elephant Prowl first.  Remember he has a text messaging rule named after him so nice try.

The statement by Saban that "We knew that after April 28th, we wouldn't be able to do it, so we just decided not to do it.", lends to the belief that Saban had a lot more to do with stopping the Prowl than you would originally think...

Fuck Saban and has smug little ass. He acts all high and mighty like he is above doing something that may not be exactly spelled out in the rule book. I believe that you guys praised him for doing the exact same shit when he got to Alabama...teleconferencing and the bump rule. The difference is while Auburn fans may have bitched about it, our coaching staff or administration didn't run to the NCAA like a snotty little kindergartner and tattle tale...

He wants everyone to bow to him and expects the attention on him all the time. When he wasn't getting that during the Prowl, he got his panties in a bunch. That's fine. It's funny to me that you Alabama fuckers try to make fun of the Prowl, call it stupid and a joke and irrelevant, but talk about it (including your HNIC) and petitioned the NCAA to stop it...

Yeah....wonder how he knew the exact date, hmmm.

So, if the NCAA didn't have it stopped for him, along with others, then he would've done it?

What's wrong with you peoples?  Dick Sabban had nothing to do with the proposal to do away with the recruiting of more than two coaches at a time that would end on April 28th at exactly 7:30pm.

So, Saban can tell what other coaches actual motive are/were?  Saban never pushes the envelope, like with the "bump rule", texting, etc?    Get a life you fucking loser.

Really???  So that's why it's "proof positive"?  I was wondering why it was proof positive and now I know it's because of Florida State and Georgia, two of the absolute most competitive, top tier, not desperate at all programs in the country.

I hope he had everything to do with the NCAA stopping it just to phuk with all of you.  However. the most likely thing is that what is brand new news to us isn't so brand new to the coaches and athletic directors.  Obviously this rule was being discussed and apparently there was a known date when the NCAA would address it.  It looks like Saban thought it would be ended on that date.  Looks like Chizik didn't so he went out and went RV shopping and painted his face on the back of one.  Turns out Chizik was wrong and National Championship winning Coach Nick Saban was right, again.  He owns each of you to your soul.

How did he violate the spirit of that rule? The NCAA recruiting rules specifically state that they consider teleconferencing as a phone call. It's not a matter of interpretation. It specifically addresses videoconferencing.

I'm certainly not saying Alabama has never made a secondary violation, or bent a rule, etc. Like I explained to some moron on BOL who supposedly had cell phone video of a coach introducing a recruit at one of these events and was going to turn it in to the NCAA: Do you think Saban hasn't bent or broken a rule or two? Do you think Alabama doesn't commit violations? I think the biggest problem with shit like this is when you involve fans in it. Message board morons (such as some on BOL, AuburnSports, Prowler, etc) cause alot of problems, and it is ridiculous.

A major difference between this, and especially the bump rule, is that that was a clear violation of the rules, so they had to come up with a stricter, more enforceable rule in its place.

No rule is or was broken at all by the Tiger Prowl. They came up with a rule to prevent it after the fact, because the NCAA is all about spreading the wealth. And Saban was threatened, so he called up his buddy and put an end to it.

Now I know that you really need very little in the way of facts to be convinced that every other team in the nation is "desperate".

UGA Recruiting class rankings 2006-2010: 4, 9, 7, 6, 15
FSU Recruiting class rankings 2006-2010: 3, 21, 9, 7, 10

Hardly classes that anybody would call those of "desperate" programs.  If your dumbass wants to argue that either of these programs isn't top tier or competitive simply based on one bad year in the case of UGA, or a short stint of underperforming teams by FSU then by your standards, Bammer fits that mold too.  Bammer are funny.  When they look at the past...they forget anything negative, and will go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back to dig up all the "greatness" and when they look forward, all they can prognosticate is more greatness, despite the fact that over the last 30 years, bammer has been VERY mediocre with 2 great teams sprinkled in the mix.  BTW, you don't think bammer was "desperate" when they "made it rain" to lure Saban?

I addressed it you stupid fuck when I said Saban was telling everybody what Auburn's intent was.  I don't give a fuck what they were actually doing, as long as it was within the rule...which, at the time it was.  Saban has never gone to a school to "be a presence" or emotionally affect the recruiting process during the evaluation period...if you believe that, you're a bigger moron than your posts indicate you are.
