A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

I had a double down for dinner yesterday. I was singing "God Bless The USA" by Lee Greenwood in my head with every bite.

Hippies have shit their pants over this thing. It's basically a chicken cordon bleau. Or a fried chicken club without bread or mayonnaise (and therefore less carbs and calories).

The quadruple down does look delicious.

Hippie.

I'm with GarMan on this one.

How is that worse for you than the same thing between two pieces of bread with mayonnaise, lettuce & tomato?, cause I'm pretty sure they have those at Chick-Fil-A, and everyone thinks it's healthy there.

Actually Chad, you are right. KFC and Chick Fil A both use peanut oil so they are both pretty healthy. Now - if you add bacon, mayo or anything else like cheese, then yeah - the health o meter goes down the crapper. Just in general though, theyre both pretty healthy for being fried chicken.

I bet you a thousand dollars, this is less healthy for you, but no one's shitting the bed over them.

I don't think any of them are necessarily "healthy."

On the off-chance that the fairy tales ain't bunk
And Imma keep a bottle of that funk
To get motel parking lot, balcony crunk.

First the mere thought of eating one of these Double Downs makes me wretch...not because I'm a health nut either.  It's just nasty looking, but that's JMHO, YMMV.

Second, nutritionally, it's on par with all other fast food, with a slight break in the carb count, but that's all..a slight break.  The Double Down has 540 cal/32g fat/11g Carbs.  The Grilled Double down has 460/23/3g carbs.   By comparison:

1/4lb with Cheese has 510/19/40g Carbs

Big Mac: 540/29/45g Carbs

Chic-fil-a Grilled Chicken Club: 410/12/39

I will add...the addition of the doughnut does make it somewhat curiously appetizing.  Like a play on the chicken and waffles I've seen on Food Network.

I eat a double meat what-a-burger with grilled jalapenos, large fries, an apple pie, and a large Coke about twice a week.  That's a pretty normal meal for a lot of people, and no one gives it a second thought.

That's a days worth of calories, and on the high end of a day's worth of fat and carbs.  And ooohhhhhh so good!

You're like the fat lady in line that orders a Double Whopper with Cheese, Extra large fry, and then orders a Diet Coke "to be good".

They're not negative calories or carbs.

I guess it would be best to go ahead with the full sugar coke instead?  More isn't really more at a certain point?

Wait...that was the point I'm trying to make.

I'm saying if the bitch could have eaten a salad and a regular Coke. Adding Diet Coke to the completely unhealthy meal doesn't suddenly make it healthy.

Adding bread, lettuce, and tomatoes to something that is bad for you doesn't erase the calories or carbs that are already there, but actually add more, even a much smaller percentage.
