I was under the impression we'd be pretty good at football this year until I read this article.  Guess I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

"Alabama will not hold Auburn offense to 31 points. Unless, Auburn has injuries galore to the offensive line. The Tigers are simply bigger and stronger than any combination Alabama can put on the defensive line. Alabama will get pushed around on both sides of the ball.
Auburn will average over 300 pounds across the offensive line this year. There are three dominant offensive tackles this year, where there was only one last year.

Alabama fans are setting themselves up to remember names like Gayden, Mosley and Ziemba in the same way as they remember Punt-Bama-Punt.

Players like Fairley, Blanc, Carter, Goggins, Eugae and Ford will make an indelible impression on their minds. The truth is, if Auburn loses this game, they will have under shot their potential by a wide margin.

This is what Alabama writers like Paul Finebaum are hoping for. It is the only chance they have in 2010. This Auburn team is better than Alabama right now, and unless they allow Alabama to work hard and overtake them, Alabama will not win.

If you need proof of this, you only need to watch both school's A-Day games this Saturday. I would suggest you attend one and watch the other on ESPN or ESPNU.

The results on the field will be proof enough. No one can argue their team into a better position than they are."

How did it happen? Who performed the operation? When did Nick Saban turn into Bobby Bowden?

I’m not talking about Saban the person going all "Hey, Buddy" and "Dadgumit" with a wink and a smile for everyone who crosses his path.

I’m talking about Saban the coach getting offensive. In a good way.

Opening the playbook. Attacking the scoreboard. Putting together what has a chance to be the best offense in Alabama history.

There’s irony in that possibility because Saban has a well-earned reputation as one of the best defensive minds in football.

You might think he would rather win 3-0 than 45-42.

I think he would rather win 45-0, but most of all, he wants to win. If he has a dominant defense, he’ll win by dominating on defense. If he has an explosive offense, he’ll win by exploding on offense.

That sound you hear as Alabama heads toward Saturday’s A-Day Game is the tick, tick, tick before the Boom!

Good thing this is the year they’ll open the expanded South end zone in Bryant-Denny Stadium, complete with new video boards.

The old scoreboard, headed for Legion Field, might not have been able to handle the strain.

This Alabama offense could be better than the 1973 wishbone, with Wilbur Jackson at halfback, which still holds the school single-season records for most points and total yards.

Remember Alabama 77, Virginia Tech 6?

This offense could be better than the 1979 wishbone engineered by quarterback Steadman Shealy, which remains second in SEC history in rushing yards, trailing only the 1973 Alabama offense.

Who could forget Alabama 66, Vanderbilt 3?

This offense should be the best offense Alabama has put on the field under Saban. If this team is going to repeat as BCS champions, it may have to be while a talented but inexperienced defense grows up.

Alabama has suited up a lot of good running backs through the years. Has it ever lined up a "dynamic duo," to use Saban’s phrase, like Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson?

All Ingram did last season was run for more yards than any Alabama back ever to win the school’s first Heisman Trophy. All Richardson did was convince us that he could challenge that record given enough touches.

There are other talented backs on the roster, but Ingram and Richardson have an opportunity to be the next Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown or Darren McFadden and Felix Jones.

The future first-round draft picks each ran for more than 100 yards in a game for the first time in the BCS Championship Game.

It won’t be the last time.

Alabama has seen its share of great wide receivers, but Julio Jones may be the most gifted player at that position to wear crimson.

The biggest question about him is whether he can stay healthy for 14 straight games, but the team’s leading receiver isn’t the only target. Five of last year’s top six pass-catchers return.

At quarterback, Greg McElroy has yet to reach his full potential or lose a game as a starter, and A.J. McCarron has the kind of ability to make people think it would be in McElroy’s best interest to avoid another midseason slump.

Three of the five offensive line starters are back, and on the rare occasions when the front doesn’t open a hole, Ingram and Richardson will lower a shoulder or turn on a dime and create one.

And that doesn’t count the new playmakers waiting to make a name for themselves in front of the general public. It all adds up to a lot of players scoring a lot of points.

Last fall, we debated whether we were watching the best Alabama defense ever. This year, the historical comparison will center on the offense.

It should be fun to watch.

Unless you’re a defensive coordinator not named Kirby Smart.

Skarbinsky doesn't bother me too much usually.  He does his thing, throwing out pro-Auburn pieces followed by pro-Alabama stuff.  But I do agree, this one was kind of over the top.  Especially this one...

That sounds like something you'd find in an Alabama forum written by a 14 year old who's never heard of Hershel or Bo.  "Lower a shoulder or turn on a dime"?  What the hell is that?  Is that how it works in the SEC?  

I can remember a specific game last year where "lowering a shoulder" and "turning on a dime" amounted to 31 carries for 81 yards, or 2.6 yards per carry, with a long run of EIGHT freaking yards.

Maybe Saban should petition the NCAA to change the rules about how many players have to be on the line of scrimmage.  That way he could install a "no offensive line" formation.  Ingram and Richardson apparently don't need a line or blocks, just shoulders and dimes.

I know this is confusing to you but because you have such a generic mascot you in return share that mascot with many other schools.  I know it's hard to determine what school is represented by the name tigerdroppings and that at first glance the word "droppings" would lead you to incorrectly assume it was an Auburn board but you'd be wrong.  Tigerdroppings is an LSU board.
