David Garrard frequently rushes the ball.  Byron Leftwich did so with some consistency, but not as much as Garrard, and Mark Brunell certainly wasn't what I would call a rushing quarterback.  I honestly don't know anything about the offensive coordinator, but their current offense seems to be based around a mobile quarterback.  This isn't to say that the Jaguars are definitely going to use Tebow as another rushing threat, but the team has seemed to operate that way for the past few seasons.

If they attempt to take Tebow out of his element, as well as take the team out of its element by adjusting to a more pass-friendly offensive scheme, then they may still run the risk of injuring him due to inexperience/discomfort with the offensive scheme/whatever you want to call it.  Once you've had a rushing quarterback for a few years, you get into a rhythm with that style of play.  Even if we assume that Tebow won't be rushing, those 42 sacks that Garrard took still suggest to me that, regardless of the scheme, he's going to be in danger of getting nailed by experienced professional athletes.

Of course, all of this assumes that he even goes to Jacksonville and gets to start over Garrard.  Given enough time to adjust to the pros as a backup can advance his career, but I honestly don't see him growing as a player at Jacksonville if they don't turn things around quickly.  Art Schlicter, Gino Torretta, Andre Ware, Carson Palmer and Jason White are just a few college quarterbacks whose starting careers ended (or were delayed) due mainly to (in my opinion) playing for sub-par teams that couldn't give them the opportunity to play with and learn from quality athletes and, in many instances, couldn't protect them from quality defensive athletes.

This isn't to say that there wasn't more going on than just an inexperienced team being unable to teach and protect these new quarterbacks; there were certainly other factors.  And this isn't to say that Tebow won't thrive in the NFL, or that he won't thrive with the Jaguars.  It's all speculation from me at this point, but I just think that the Jags don't have the coaches or the talent for Tebow to grow as a player, and if he does by some slim chance get to start over Garrard within his first or even second year, he will likely be injured.

Can I just say that while your points may be valid, your paragraphs are long.  My eyes can't decipher that.

Two sentences per paragraph.  Then break.

That I can read.

Yes, pots and kettles are both black.  What's your point?

I didn't realize the three to four sentence per paragraph structure was that difficult.  I'll contact a publisher and get to work on the Dr. Seuss version, complete with vibrant, child-friendly illustrations, so that you may partake in the intricate discussions of grown-up land.

There, that paragraph was two sentences.  Is that okay, or was intricate too complex of a word?

I get it - Kaos is a play on your name - Kevin Scarbinsky, right?

Actually, Scarbinsky would scoff at your extra sentence per paragraph.

(Then hit /cr and start a new paragraph)

I have no ground on which to stand, as I often fire off sentences that contain several hundred words.

I can do without the illustrations, particularly if they feature cats.  The only good cat is the cat that isn't within 100 yards of my house.

In defense of the Scarb, that's what writing for the web has been reduced to.   Web editors are instructed to break all content down into one or two sentences with a break between.  They prefer single-sentence entries.

The concept is that larger word blocks are difficult to read on the web (and they have a point) but also that long paragraphs (and this is nearly verbatim from an editor I argued with) "tend to intimidate the typical reader."

I made the same arguments conflicted asshole did with the Dr. Seuss version, but I think I actually called it the "Dick and Jane" version, thus showing my age.

Was I the last generation to read about young Dick and his gal pal Jane?

Maybe but Drill Instructors commonly used Jane as the identity of ALL female counterparts of the GI's. They make damn sure that you understand that they are getting some stange while you are serving your country.

No.  Aside from Skinemax porn, the only movies I watch at night are A Knight's Tale, The Notebook and Full Metal Jacket.

Like I said in another thread, no GM in their right mind is going to draft Tebow for ticket sales.  It's a dead end situation if that's the reason.  Either you draft him, people buy tickets, then get pissed when you don't play him, or you play him, he sucks, and people get pissed that you drafted him (and that they paid to watch it).

I suppose Jacksonville could be the one team just desperate enough to try it though.  They didn't even sell out for game #16 a couple years back when it was a "win and you're in" game for making the playoffs.  If they don't even care to show up for a make-it-or-break-it game, and it gets blacked out on TV in your own market....that's sad.

So maybe that's why they're giving Tebow a look...he may be the only thing that keeps the Jags in Jacksonville for another 5+ years.

That's why I feel that Jacksonville, if they draft him, will be playing him sooner than not.  Garrard is not a horrible quarterback, and he certainly has more experience at the professional level than Tebow will, but they're in such a shitty situation that they just might be looking for a savior.  And we all know that Tebow = Christ; at least that's the impression I got from Lee Corso's raging hard-on whenever he talked about him.

Similar to South Carolina, Jacksonville has no offensive line.  This is their problem, not a lack of Jesus..
