Earthquake in Haiti due to a Curse from God?
« on: January 13, 2010, 10:07:30 PM »
So says Pat Robertson anyway (see link below).  This kind of backward, flat earth, ignorance is not helping anything especially Evangelical Christianity.  By the way, Rev., it was Napoleon Bonaparte as I recall not "the third", there's desperate, grinding poverty on the "right" side of the island of Hispaniola too, and, perhaps, if the Haitian government hadn't been so profoundly corrupt for the past century they may be just a little better off than they are now.  Nevertheless, what are you doing to help?

What was this guy thinking?

(you may have to click on the video 'screen' to start it at Breitbart TV, it's less than a minute of inanity.)

I don't know about any of that, but I'd say 95% of the Haitians that I've dealt with are vulgar, ungrateful, and extremely aggressive assholes.  And those fuckers love to fight.

That's a softball right down the middle, but because I don't want to break one of the few rules on this website, I'll take the strike.

The only good news to come out of it is that the majority of the corrupt officials responsible for the 82% poverty rate were most likely in those shoddily built government buildings that collapsed.  Maybe a literal clean slate is what they need.

But I doubt it will matter much.  Reports said the looting started before the aftershocks were finished.

Hmmm...  Like New Orleans after Katrina?  Or, like LA after the verdict?

Well, I guess there aren't as many flatscreen TVs down there...

Yes. And all have a common theme which we are not allowed to speak of. It seems poverty brings out the best in folks.

I couldn't agree with you more.  I'm sure he's a nice guy but indulging in a silly superstition about devil worship while trying to obtain money to help in the Earthquake recovery is self-defeating; I'd suggest that most people watching his show would be completely averse to giving any donations after that ridiculous, Dark-age comment.

I would say that moral-less subcultures are to blame.  Poverty may feed into it, but I wouldn't consider it to be the source of the issue.  I see poverty as more of a result of a situation or set of circumstances.

We have all been blasting Pat for his comment, but has anyone disproved the whole "pact with the devil" theory. According to librul tactics over the last 10 years, it is up to those offended to disprove the statement.

So until disproven, we must all believe that Haiti made a pact with the devil to free them of French rule and that is why every natural disaster that happens in that area gets sucked right into Haiti. It is the precedent set for us by our mighty librul leaders.

We should pray for Haiti, just a s Pat asked us to do.
