Alabama Fans - When is enough, enough?

Alabama Fans - When is enough, enough?
« on: December 29, 2009, 03:14:58 PM »
I'm just curious about something.  Why do Alabama fans always expect more when they've already achieved so much?

Is there a reason why Mark Ingram isn't good enough for you?  Why would I hear multiple fans state that Trent Richardson is the better back and will also win a Heisman.

Why is this year's BCS championship game not the peak of what the program is striving for?  Why am I hearing multiple fans state that Saban's recruits are still young and that the next few years are the REAL years Bama will dominate?

BsOL published an article a few weeks ago that stated this BCSCG will vault Bama recruiting into something the country hasn't seen before.  Are two #1 recruiting classes not the top of the mountain?  Does it really have to get better

I think this mindset delivers much comedic relief for rival fans.  When Saban doesn't win three straight NCs, fans will only feel let down instead of appreciative for what they've accomplished.

Maybe their fans are thinking they've only reached the top once they've won a Super Bowl.

It'll never be enough for those people because Alabama football can't give them what they need. They think it will, but it can't. What they need is sterilization.

I haven't really seen any examples of what you're talking about, so I don't know how to answer this. I don't know if you've just seen a post or two on a few boards or heard some people on the radio, and you're just generalizing everybody in the fanbase, or what. I'm looking at the first page of BOL and Tidesports right now, and I can't really find any of what you're talking about.

Nope.  In fact, I scanned the Alabama crowd on my HD television tuned to CBS, and I didn't see any.  Well, maybe just one, but not really anything like you Auburn fans claim.

Look, they're already changing their tattoos to say "13 National Championships."
I know several people that booked their plane tickets to Pasadena in early October.

What do you expect... they're bammers.  *shrug*

I think that over the years people have proved that no one program can remain a total dominant force of nature in NCAA football for decades on end.  USC, for example, or Florida as another.

UA recruits great.  Yes.  But think about 2004 for AU... how high was that recruiting class?  And we laid down the pain for a good solid year.  Coaching and synergy (oh yeah, I just went there) between players has a LOT to do with it.

UA is great, yes.  But the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

Because #1 is Alabama's rightful place, and we were born to be there.

That's what you're looking for, right?

If I had the time or energy to spend the next 10 pages with the back and forth bullshit, I'd write a 3000 word essay on the similarities between Alabama and Auburn's fan base.  "Nothing's ever good enough for Bammer" says the fan of a University who was ready to throw bricks at a damn good coach a little over a year ago.  Not just a damn good coach, but a damn good man who ran a clean program for the better part of a decade.  Statistically speaking, one of the best coaches to ever walk the sidelines of Jordan-Hare Stadium.  One bad season, and that dude needs to get the fuck out.

Bad fans?  I had a snaggle toothed Auburn fan wearing a flat bill black and white Auburn hat, yell "Rammer Jammer yeller hammer go to hell alabammer" at me and my 5 year old in the Gadsden Mall while my kid was riding the kiddie fire truck.  Not from across the mall either.  No, he was less than 10 feet away.   I should have hit that bitch in the mouth.  And shaped the bill of his stupid fucking hat.

So fuck your generalizations.

And don't drink and drive.

This.

I'm still waiting to see where all of this comes from. I haven't seen it on any of the boards I go on. And I totally agree on the part about CTT. As much as Alabama has been laughed at over the years for making boneheaded coaching moves, and knee jerk reaction, AU firing CTT was the mother of all knee jerk reactions. The guy gave AU 10 pretty good years, and a 6 year streak against Alabama. AU fans bitched and moaned about how AU was winning, but not beating teams into the ground as they wanted. AU's offense was too plain-old-jane, and needed to spice it up. So, he brings in a different OC. Fine, its what the fans wanted.

He hired the wrong guy, realized it, and fired him halfway through the season. Auburn made a TOTALLY knee-jerk reaction and canned CTT before he was allowed to completely un-fuck the situation. Its a damn good thing AU's BOTs do not run Alabama. I suppose Saban would have been fired after 2007. If people think CTT couldn't un-fuck the situation, that is just ridiculous. He already had it halfway un-fucked by firing Franklin. For all we know, CTT could have hired Malzahn for the 2009 season, since the groundwork had already been laid for such a system. It was that easy.

Anyways, ever since Chizik's hiring, I have never heard so many AU fans sound like some of those in our fanbase who always bullshitted about what was going on during Shula's tenure. Some of you here may not realize it, but alot of AU fans are the same as some of our fans, just wearing different colors.

Bullshit. Straight up bullshit.

I went to a visitation at the local funeral home. I estimated 100 people in attendance. Of these, 8 wore bama football shirts, and 4 others wore their crimson hats into the parlor. Didn't even remove them when they approached the coffin.

Not 1 Auburn shirt was seen the entire evening, and it wasn't for a lack of Tiger fans.

Tacky, classless, and totally disrespectful.

I found it funny when the bammer delivering my pizza saw my Outback Bowl Ticket pack sitting on the table close to the door, and gave me a snarky "roll tide" as I was ready to "pen" his tip onto my receipt.  I told him I'd give him one dollar, or two if he could give me the words to the first line of the fight song.  He just looked at me funny, folded his little tip receipt and walked off.

I take football to that level when warranted. And that was warranted IMHO. That's some funny shit.
The Bammers better enjoy this year and savor it because there will be November 2010 to endure.

Ok.  AU/UA bullshit aside.  As much as you travel, you should know that people handling your food aren't the people to fuck with.  I hope you were on the road and ordered a pizza from some place you never plan on eating at again, because you know that delivery boy will rub his balls on your pizza the next time you order.

Trust me.  They remember names and addresses.

You're damned straight I did. Why would anyone go through their closet - knowing full well what event they were dressing for - and choose to wear this? I am an Auburn man to the marrow of my bones, but I would never even think of wearing this type of clothing to this kind of a gathering.

It's called having class.
