Did he have a part in it? If what I hear is true, he guaranteed to buy
all the tickets if they picked Auburn. Although that smells somewhat of desperation and prostitution, if it worked to outflank Ole Miss and Tennessee then he gets credit for that (unless it costs us a shitload of money, which will depend on whether the tickets can be resold in the volume he expects). That's only a rumor, though, and has no verification yet.
From what Phillip Marshall wrote -- and was referenced here -- the bowl officials made an independent decision based on a number of factors -- none of which involved Jacobs in any way, shape or form.
