Grinds My Gears...

Grinds My Gears...
« on: November 24, 2009, 10:59:47 PM »
I was reminded today of the 2007 Auburn-LSU game.

It was a bit of a debate about Les Miles and his decision making at the end of the game.  It was an instant classic with a last second bomb for a touchdown when all they needed was a field goal.  Some said Les knew what he was doing and was catching us off guard.  Some said he made a terrible call with no regard to the time on the clock and got lucky.

Well, now we know.  Les Miles had no fucking clue how much time was on the clock.  He lucked out because they connected.

Who knows what could have been if we had the luck of Ole Miss 2009 in Baton Rouge that night.

I vividly recall my reaction when that play started.  I was ready to jump off a building when Auburn had let them move the ball downfield for the winning FG and all they had to do was run a play in the middle, QB sneak, ground it..whatever.  Bottom line, they were in position to kick a VERY makable field goal with no time left and walk away with a huge "Point and laugh".

They snap the ball and the QB drops back to pass and I literally holler, "Oh my God, you beautiful, STUPID sonofabitch". Yes, they made it by one digit on a ring finger.  But Les Miles is NOT the man for the LSU job.  And I hope he stays for 5 more years and runs that program into the ground...Dinardo style.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

The hiring of Miles still mystifies me though I have been reminded often by some that Herbstreit put the kabash on the Michigan talk. I will never believe that but I do think LSU got what it deserved, a moron that  has used up his 3 wishes.

But then I think Ole Miss landed the gut they deserved as well in Nutt. He is a marginal game day coach at best.

Jamie Howard - single handedly responsible for Hallman not being at LSU today. Damn you Jamie Howard!

What does it take for Miles to get a pink slip (and millions of dollars)?

If they lose to Arkansas but win a bowl game (9-4) and then win 8 games again next year?  Does that do it?

Or does he need at least one bad season in there too (6 wins or less) to get run off?

He did win a national championship and 34 games in those first three years.  How long does that buy you?

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

Saybin gave that boy everything.

Does make you wonder though.  LSU's recruiting has NOT fallen off.  They've got athletes out the ayuss.

I think they've always been like Tennessee as far as being able to recruit. They seldomly played AU and couldn't beat Bryant in spite of the yearly hype.
