Note:  he didn't come out and say that stuff on his own.  This was an interview that they snagged bits and pieces of then tried to play it up.

It's one of those "out of context" things.  He's not cocky, but they asked him, and he said "yeah, I think I'm the best back in the state."  I can't say I disagree, I think he IS better than Ingram.  His OL is not the best, but I think considering what he's had to work with, the fact that he can still put up numbers like Ingram?  He's earned the right to say he thinks he's good.

Also note that they added in, much later, that he made sure in the same interview, (which was only seconds later, and on his own,) that he thinks Ingram is a GREAT back and a fantastic football player.

I know you're working on being "edgy" and "funny" here....but....

I think the point prison is making is that relative to the situations, Tate has vastly out performed Ingram with the tools he's had to work with this year.  He's had to work a little harder and still managed to keep at a similar level of Ingram in the stats performance.  Unless of course, you want to disagree and claim that Auburn's offensive line and situation on offense is on par with Bama.  I don't think you'll find anyone here claiming this.

Not really.  When you consider the fact that UA is leaning on Ingram like a drunk man on a lamp post, and realize that Ben Tate is only PART of our offense (our QB's have scored 9 more touchdowns this year than yours) then you can edit posts.

Our offense is different.  Our QB's "suck" and we're still putting up more numbers than UA is.  If we were fixated on the run it would be much different.  Our leading receiver has 9 touchdowns.... yours has............ 3?  If we used Ben Tate to get into the endzone more like you use Ingram, the stats would be WAY tilted.  But they're not, because we USE him differently.

And he STILL had stats (up until last night) that were very, very close.

Ingram carried for 149 yards, and didn't even play alot of the 4th quarter due to the cut on his head. That wasn't even one of his best games. Oh, and when Tate made that comment, here is how the stats read:

Ingram: 175 carries for 1148 yards and 8 TD (6.56 ypc)
Tate: 185 carries for 1075 and 8 TD (5.81 ypc)

While you are correct, thos are not the stats from when he was quoted, the stats still show in Ingram's favor when Tate popped off at the mouth. Thanks for the bulletin board material, Mr. Tate.
