THS seems to take it pretty seriously. I can't believe that CSS didn't alert the refs to this if he knew we were doing it. If we were doing it, who really gives a flying fuck? Nothing is going to happen even if the SEC looks at it and sees that it was a no-call. Its no different than any other no-call in any other game, as you seem to suggest.
It's illegal per the rulebook that the other 119 teams play by.

So is catching the ball off a bounce.

There's not a rule against that. The rule is incomplete pass if it hits the ground first.

Either way, it's not fucking legal to catch the pass off a bounce.  You sum bitches aren't bitching about that missed call though.

What missed call are you talking about?  Surely you don't mean the fine catch that JJ Meadors made back in '95, clearly getting his hands under the ball in the end zone?  Even with replay, that wouldn't have been overturned.

Yes, I was talking about the ball that was trapped in the endzone in '95.  I forgot to mention the "12 players on the field" game, I believe in '97.

CNS' remarks from the SEC conference call:

Quote
Coach Nick Saban on the SEC Conference call was just asked about Spurrier's comment about using a piece of tape to mark where the ball should go on field goals and extra points.

"I have to be very honest about this, I was not aware of this. I have become aware of this since it was brought to my attention. We certainly don't want our players to do anything that's illegal. It's a five-yard penalty if you do anything to enhance the spot.

"We've done some research on it and over half of the teams do something, whether it's put a piece of grass there or piece of mud, or whatever it is so the kicker knows where it's going to be spotted. We even saw verification of something where even South Carolina's kicker did something. This is not something that is really unusual for people to do. It is something that shouldn't be done because it's against the rules. We're actually happy it was brought to our attention because I wasn't aware of it."

I would imagine its just as easy as him calling a few other programs and asking them if they do anything similar. I'm sure that, according to you, everybody in college football hates Nick Saban. However, I'm sure he has some corch-like friends around the country.

I'm still looking for where I said he called an opposing team's coach. We don't play every single team in the country, you know. I'm sure he knows plenty of coaches around the country, coaches of teams we don't play as a matter of fact. Pete Carrol would be one of those coaches, just off the top of my head. Bob Stoops, Will Muschamp, etc etc. Do you really think coaches don't talk with other coaches around the country, get new ideas, share ideas, etc?

On how to cheat?
Over the summer Muschamp and Saban were exchanging ideas on defenses. Muschamp even came to Tuscaloosa.

Stoops and Saban met as well to exchange defensive ideas. Stoops came to Tuscaloosa for this as well.

Saban met with Carrol while Saban was shooting his ESPN commercial.

You can say they exchange whatever information you want. It still doesn't change the fact that coaches talk, and thats how Saban "researched" what other programs are doing. I'm simply answering your question, and you're trying to turn it down a whole different road to divert attention.

So "calling a few other programs" constitutes "half the teams" in the country?  He probably called Jackie Sherrill, Gene Stallings and Tommy Tuberville.  Jackie and Gene did it, therefore "more than half" do something.

And let me see if I understand this....he claims some teams put a piece of grass...in the grass (?) to mark the spot. Interesting.  If the kicker can concentrate on that particular piece of grass, couldn't he just stare at a piece of grass that was already there?

I am impressed with his ability to use the word "something" at least once in five consecutive sentences.

The fact that anyone buys into this shit amazes me. The fact that it's RWS, however, does not.

There's so much wrong with Saban's statement, it's hard to waste time inserting logic into it.

But here goes:

This is a ridiculous claim from the very start. He did not fucking "research" this by calling up 120 coaches, and over half of them (even if he was using a sample size of fucking 3) admit to cheating regularly.

EVEN IF his bullshit statement were true, a piece of grass, or mud is not “any device or material used to mark the spot of a scrimmage place kick or elevate the ball". A piece of tape is something that is undoubtedly deliberately used for this purpose. EVEN IF someone picks up a piece of grass or mud off of the football field and puts it back on the ground (which is a ridiculous thought in itself), that is not the same thing as taking a white piece of tape out and putting on the spot.

As stated earlier, just how the flying fuck can someone spot a piece of grass ON GRASS to help them spot the ball from however many yards away? He'd be better pressed just keeping his eye on the spot on the ground itself. This notion completely lacks a grounding in reality.

In other words, it's complete bullshit, and you'd have to be a dipshit to buy into any of it.

Don't stop believin', RWS.
