KISS new album Sonic Boom will debut at number 2 on Billboard this week. It failed (miserably) to meet projections of 175 - 200,000 sales, selling only 108,000 in its opening week.
Some homosexual queer named Michael Bubble (I've never heard of him, but apparently Oprah likes the taste of his ass) debuted at #1, selling about 130,000 of which 127,000 were rumored to have been purchased by bug-eye bitch Winfrey herself.
By contrast, AC/DC unloaded nearly 800,000 in its opening week via an exclusive deal with Wal Mart.
There are some reasons. Wal Mart definitely did not deliver its part of the bargain. The store promised huge promotions like they provided for AC/DC including multiple lines of merchandise and separate "Korners" that would spotlight the KISS CD and other affiliated merchandise.
I went to ten different stores in four states over the last week. None of them had any promotional areas at all. The CD was buried behind fucking Selena Gomez in many of the stores and I didn't find the first KISS Korner in any of them.
If I was Gene I would sue.
It's also very possible that despite the quality of the CD (which is just as good as Black Ice, as it wasn't much to write home about) people just don't care to purchase music from the "fake" KISS. A number of fans outright reject Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer wearing Ace and Peter's makeup respectively.
Psycho Circus -- not a good CD -- sold 110,000 in its first week when it was released in 1998.
Expect Sonic Boom to bust its ass right off the charts next week and disappear. Be surprised if it makes Gold status at this point.
Maybe that's enough. Maybe it's time to ride off in the sunset. This tour is selling out pretty much everywhere. Go out with a blast and be done with it.
The album sales are horribly disappointing.
