Because he didn't take a swing at a referee. You can go see on the SEC Digital Network site, he didn't take a swing at the ref. Hands never even came up, I don't think. He bumped the referees as he was jaw jacking the VT player. Two refs were standing between him and the VT player, and he kept walking towards the VT player. Still, what he did was not right and he never should have done it. Definite bonehead move, and I wasn't happy with it.
What started it was the VT player decking him from behind in the end zone as he had turned around after the play. Still, its no excuse. You wait until the next play and show that phuker, you don't draw a personal foul because you're pissed off. Would I have been upset had he been ejected? No. You don't even bump a referee, no matter how pissed you are at some other guy. He was pretty lucky.
Saint Rolando was only protecting himself from a Virginia Tech assassin and was pretty sure that the referees were androids sent from Planet Xernon to destroy us all. That's why he assaulted them. Only when he felt their flesh recoil from his blow did he realize his error. Saint Ronaldo knows that android technology isn't sophisticated enough -- yet -- to accurately mimic human skin.
Thank GOD he was there, though, to protect us all.
What was I thinking suspension? He should get a medal or something.
You fucking apologists are ridiculous. He was not accosted from behind and retaliating. He started pushing at the beginning of the play. Sack of shit revisionists trying to justify his punkishness.
Spin it any way you want, the refs tried to get control of him ... and if the VT guy was the aggressor as you foolishly try to spin it, why weren't referees trying to restrain HIM? So they're trying to control the guy and he's shoving and pushing away.
He should have been ejected and there should be suspensions in the wake. But it's Bama and what else do you expect. Thugs.
Did the guy who assaulted his girlfriend play?
