I think we're unfairly comparing Burns and the other receivers.  Based upon my reading of the scrimmage/practice reports, Burns isn't learning the traditional WR packages.  So, if he's asked to do things that the other WRs aren't, then you can't compare the two.
Eggsackery.

Without giving away too many trade secrets, I believe what he was working was a portion of teh Wildcat package.  He had 3 or 4 passes thrown his way and had ZERO drops.  That was nice to see, considering he was the only one who could say that for the day anyway.

Fair enough.  I took the statement "caught the ball as well as any of the receivers" and made that into an indictment of receivers in general.

I also don't think catching the ball "as well as any of the receivers" is necessarily an indictment of the receivers since Burns is a guy that is used to handling the ball.  Note, that quote does not say "better than" the receivers.

If our LBs are catching as well as any of the receivers, then we have serious concerns.

Benton is a 4* or 5* WR who committed to one of the top programs in the nation (National Champions) and who is a big, physical athlete at 6'3" and about 205.  He's been working his ass off, came in to summer workouts and has gone through the fall, proving that he belongs in the rotation.

Why in the hell does that speak volumes about how bad our WR group is?

This is not the glass half full take when I say I think you're going to see that this unit is much better than people think.  Guys like Terrell Zachary(Some people forget how good he was coming out of H.S) Darvin Adams and Benton are tall, fast receivers who are now finally getting some real coaching and most importantly...direction.  Can you really look at that clusterfuck of an offense last year and be able to judge the WR's.  Fucksake people...we had broke-wing Todd and Kodi throwing passes behind a line that couldn't block a pee-wee team..in an offense that fell apart prior to the season.  How about the year before?  Brandon Cox?  Holy shit, he didn't throw a straight pass until the 10th game of the season. Can anyone say USF and MSU?

The system that's being run will produce good receivers and these guys will be able to show what they can do.  I'll go ahead and say that if Chris Todd has his head even half way out of his ass, people are going to see that this group is one of the real strengths of this team.

I love it when Bama fans talk Julio. No, really. It never gets old.

Along with that id this aire of supremacy as if Bama has always had world beaters for WRs.

Sure.

Whatever helps you sleep on your houndstooth sheets at night.

As for Montez, his whole career has been a Twilight Zone episode. And if Auburn is expecting Kodi Burns to do more than spot work, I hope the RBs are ready for a lot of work as well as the defense.

Kodi is not the answer to anything.

Once again, you're a stupid f*ck and once again, you wanted to let us all know.  Name one Alabama fan who has posted in this thread who has said the name Julio.  What a stupid bitch.

Not because he's an Auburn fan.  I don't like him for the same reason I don't like #1Bammer, they're fucking dumb.  Not that this makes them unique around here but most here have the ability to turn it off if for only a short while.

If a guy like DeAngelo Benton, who did not even play ball in '08, can come in and outshine what you guys already have, then he is either a freak of nature, or the WR corps at AU are just that horrible. I know he was a 4* (even though I haven't heard Prowler bitch and moan about him not playing a season and still being ranked a 4*), but there is usually a little rust there. Either way, its not a good situation.
De-Lo is a freakin' beast....think Julio, only two years older.  BTW, what is this 4* crap you're talkin'....he's rated as a (6 Grillz).

To hijack this thread back on topic.
How fucked is it when the organization that is supposed to make sure athletes are supposed to be graduating won't let one play who HAS FREAKING GRADUATED?
That sucks.

Bingo.  Word on the skreets, is that Montez took enough credits to graduate, but not enough to play....yet.

Oh, so its just up to you to decide. Jalston Fowler isn't going to play for a year, and its a fucking travesty that he is still going to be rated. All three recruiting services are biased and its bullshit. DeAngelo Benton didn't play for a year but keeps a 4* rating, well thats just fine. Not one peep from Prowler. Chizik is a recruiting machine, etc.

You're right, Fowler should've kept his ratings when he was a Senior....Last Year.  Fowler should not be in the bammerham News Super Seniors list, this year.  Maybe the recruiting sites realize that D'Lo is still a freakin' beast (in '07 D'Lo was 6'3" 195lbs. with a 4.45 40, in '09 he's 6'3" 210lbs. with a 4.4 40).  Fowler on the other hand, still runs a 4.8 40  .
