Dammit...
« on: August 12, 2009, 10:45:51 AM »
Edit: I now see where the price has moved up to $1700. It was showing as $9.99 just before I posted this.

They sold out...

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;jsessionid=1853C081DD7FF911D96F22F272DEADB2.bbolsp-app02-01?skuId=8749287&type=product&id=1202649424157

I seriously just spent 45 minutes trying to purchase this TV for $9.99.

The page kept timing out. Finally I was one click away, and I got a message that said:

Quote
Our delivery system is temporarily unavailable. Please return later to purchase any items requiring delivery. We apologize for the inconvenience. Items available for shipping or in-store pickup may still be purchased.

So I kept trying again, and finally got:
Quote
# We are sorry. The product, Samsung - 52" Class / 1080p / 120Hz / LCD HDTV, is currently unavailable for Delivery. Please remove this product before continuing.

And now it shows up as "Sold Out", so you can't even try to order it.

Wonder how many people got away with it before they caught the typo...

Somebody over on ITAT was bragging about getting one.  He said he's paying like $87 total to have it shipped to his house.  Hell...I paid $1,950 plus tax to get the same damn TV a year ago. :puke:

Me too, honestly.  Right now there's a moral debate on that board as to his intentions.
I say fuck 'em.  I guarantee you they would let him pay way too much for one without losing a wink of sleep over it.

Jeebus, I clicked "Continue" again on my shopping cart just for shits and giggles and got the message

Quote
Our Delivery area does not include the address you are attempting to use for Samsung - 52" Class / 1080p / 120Hz / LCD HDTV. Please try another address..

Thank God.

The total changed to $3,399.98...

I had 2 in my cart...

Moral debate?

Fuck a that. They offered to sell that TV for that price. If they are that stupid to not check, double check, and recheck what price they're selling it for, than that's their idiot fault.

If they had charged me the $80 to my card, and did not send me that TV, I'd raise hell. I wouldn't settle for a refund, I'd want my damn TV that I purchased fair and square from them.

http://www.josephayi.com/blog/news/the-best-buy-online-samsung-52-999/

Quote
The ‘Best Buy’ Online — Samsung 52″ 9.99

Get your credit cards ready because the ‘Best Buy’ online has just exploded on the scene. Sometime early this morning, consumers were shocked to see a Samsung 52″ LCD TV LN52A650 on sale for a ridiculous $9.99. While it is obvious that this is a pricing error on the part of Best Buy, one can only hope and dream that Best Buy lets Christmas come early.

For anyone wondering about Best Buy’s Pricing Error policy it is here as follows:

    Under the Conditions of Use:

    Errors on site
Prices and availability of products and services are subject to change without notice. Errors will be corrected where discovered, and Best Buy reserves the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions including after an order has been submitted and whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. If your credit card has already been charged for the purchase and your order is cancelled, Best Buy will issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the charge. Individual bank policies will dictate when this amount is credited to your account. If you are not fully satisfied with your purchase, you may return it in accordance with Best Buy’s Return Policy

Aside from the $9.99 ‘believe or not’ price, California residents will have to pay a $25.00 recycling fee per unit and everyone will have to pay a $70.00 flat shipping charge. For mere $79 you can own this $1,500.00+ unit.

Updates to follow.

8/12/2009 — 7:33 AM PST

Since this post was last writing about 4 hours ago, Best Buy has since removed the product from its searches. Luckily the link in this post still works. I have tried it up until the point where I have to enter my credit card information and it seems to still work. Many sources have told me that the product is unsearchable, but nothing about not being able to checkout. So far, it appears that this is the only link that is working.

Here is the working link again: Samsung 52″ LCD TV LN52A650

Tip: Order low quantities (example: 1-3). It seems that from one of the comments that they will honor low quantity orders. Sorry to those that ordered 30.

8/12/2009 - 7:49 AM PST

Best Buy has just updated the product link and it now shows the price at $1,699.99. Sorry everyone, Christmas is over. Now it’s the waiting game to see what happens to the people that did order the product at $9.99.

Would be great to get some updates from Best Buy!

8/12/2009 7:51 AM PST

Just got a Tweet from Best Buy Rep, @Jacob_BBY

@Joseph_Yi Unfortunately all orders for that price will be canceled and refunded regardless of quantity.

I’m sure that people will still want to hear from Best Buy themselves, but perhaps this is an indication of what’s to come.

When I bought a TV this year, I found the one at Best Buy I wanted and it was on sale for 798, I went in there on Sunday and It had went off Sale Sat and it was back to 898.  I spoke to a manager and all they would do is refund  the diff if it went back on sale with in thirty days.  I had the ad in hand, so it wasn't like I was not prepared.  I finally bought a larger TV at Sams Club.  Screw Best Buy since Circuit city closed up they think their shit don't stink, but there are other places to shop.  I stopped at an HH Gregg in Bham last month and they looked like they have a pretty good store.

I've found that Wal Mart has incredible prices on TVs.

Although, I'll probably get one from CostCo because I get 2% back in December.  It's not much (groceries plus TV), but it'll buy my wife some pajamas for Christmas.

If you live near a military base, just hang out at the local pawn shop at the end of the month. You can get some incredible deals on a 1 or 2 month old TV.

I just bought a 42" off my son for $400. It is only a couple of months old. Somehow he ended up with 3, 40", 42", 52" (all new). Don't ask me how. When these dumbos get back form deployment, they just start spending.

He had already pawned one. I told him to come to me first. I would usually give him more than the pawn shop if I needed something. I still haven't figured out how folks can use a pawn shop on a regular basis. How freaking financially dysfunctional do you have to be?

You are new-ish around here, so I will clue you in.  CCTAU's son that he mentions above joined the Army fresh out of high school and has been in the thick of things for the past few years.  CCTAU is entitled to say whatever he wishes on here with regards to the men and women who do the jobs the liberals try to pretend are not necessary, because it is being said with undertones of parental exasperation tempered by the love a parent has for a child and the respect the man has for our soldiers.  You obviously had no way of knowing this.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

I love my son and he is one helluva soldier(4.5 years in and up for E6), but currency of any kind is a complete mystery to him. If that little card connected to your account actually works, you must still have money.  I mean if you didn't, wouldn't an automated hand come from whatever device you stuck it in and slap the shit out of you and say, "No. no more money"?

And if you venture to Ft. Campbell, KY, where he is stationed, and frequent the pawn shops, you can find all sorts of almost new items. So I guess it is not just him.

Maybe the Army needs a mandatory course on how to manage money. Some of the stories you hear are almost unreal. One of the new guys under him needed help getting a loan. Why? You ask. Because he doesn't have a car or a DL, and the apartment he and his new wife just rented was 30 miles from base and he needed money for a taxi every day.

So as I look at the overall picture, it could be worse.

And don't get me started on people who sell stuff to these uneducated(in the ways of money) soldiers at a higher cost than they should. Some of the car salesmen need their balls cut off for what they do to these guys.

But as I have stated, want a good deal on barely used electronics, a military town is a good bet.
