2010 Elections, What Will We Do

I am so fuckin tired of EVERY SINGLE POLITICIAN in Washington.  With congress' approval rating, it looks like I am not the only one.  I wonder how hard it would be to get a national movement to oust every fucking one of them.  I believe that the 2010 elections mark one of the times when every member of the house is up for re-election.  

We need to find a way to start the vote out the incumbent movement.  While I rarely if ever have voted for a democrat, I would be willing to do so if it means ousting a sitting republican.  The hardcore dems would have to be willing to do the same.  If we can't defeat the incumbent in a primary I say we just vote for the other guy and express our right to fire the bastard.

One of the biggest problems today in my opinion is "career" politicians.  How nice would it be to vote them all out and start over.

I know it is a pie in the sky idea, but witht he power of the internet in todays time, if it were ever possible this would be the time.

That may be true, but there would be more of a liklihood to enact some term limits and message sent would be loud and clear that we as citizens will no longer put up with the same old shit

As much as I hate the one, I believe the single most devistating factor of our government is... not having term limits for Congress.  IMO nothing will ever change with government until this happens.  It is a good ole' boy network of fat-cats and crooks!

Term limits would do major damage to the political machines.  We would have to vote in enough candidates to vote that through in their one term...not sure that could happen.

Unfortunately, ggraf is correct.  We won't be able to elect enough people who "care" simply because too many Democrats will be voted in no matter who they are.  Hopefully the new crop of Socialists Democrats will be in favor of term limits, but I seriously doubt it.

Especially in the current economic climate, there's not enough "new money" out there to support a clear and honest candidate in 2010 IMO.

Americans suck right now.  It's too bad it only took 250 years for this country to turn into what it is.  Citizens don't realize that we're the boss and the government is the workers.  Democracy was created so that the people can go about their business while using a surrogate to represent what they want in their country. 

Every election (since I can remember back to 1992 as a kid) has been riddled with broken promises.  One candidate promises to do this and that, but once he's elected, he does something else.  Whenever that happens, he should be impeached or booted.  We're suppose to elect people to represent our views.

Elections are more like a football game.  Political debates and campaigns are more like football message boards.  There are strategies to simply get elected.  The scary thing is that the political parties openly admit that.  They're just trying to dupe the country into electing them.  Once they do that, they can get things done. 

As much as I dislike Sarah Palin as a politician, I think she's the only one in the game who really understands the mindset of the people.  It's too bad that we don't elect people who understand us...we only give credit to the ones who can effectively campaign.

savoy, I think you have hit on it - I don't think Sarah Palin IS a politician.  Yes, she holds/held elected office.  But she started out just like one of us - sick and tired of the way things were being handled, and she decided to do something about it.  She GETS IT.  That is why the MSM and the pinkos are petrified of her, and are using every means at their disposal to discredit and ruin her, because she fucking GETS IT.  And that scares the HELL out of them - a normal, everyday person, without a lot of old family money, people with kids, a life, a special needs child, family crisis, worrying about debt - she is ONE OF US who has climbed to national prominence.  That is why I like her.  She is real.  I can't say that I wouldn't say stupid shit either if I got asked a question by some pea brain talking head who was deliberately looking to fuck me over.  To me, that makes her more human.  If the libs don't lay off her, it might just backfire on them BIG TIME.  It makes me angrier than I have EVER been to see them get in the way of her and her family life.  And it is not because she is a woman - it is because she is NORMAL.  And those media fuckers can't handle the thought of a NORMAL American being in a positon of power and influence.
