If and when Muschamp leaves...
« on: January 04, 2008, 09:05:04 AM »
Who do we get to replace him?

 - Jeff Casteel, West Virginia DC.  I don't know if he is planning on joining Rich Rod at Michigan or staying at WVU, but since things are up in the air for him now might be a good time to try and get a foot in the door.  He had the #4 ranked total defense this year.

 - Vic Koenning, Clemson DC.  Led the Tigers to a #6 total defense this year, and was also the DC at Troy from 03-04.  Maybe he and Franklin could get together and talk shit about Larry Blakney.

 - Dick Bumpas, TCU DC.  Hard-assed and always produces a solid unit.

Who else is out there?

Is Mangina his own DC, or does he have someone in that spot?  If he does, experience running a D like they have had the last several years  would fit right in at Auburn IMO.

I would want:

Will Muschamp: Defensive Coordinator for Texas....no wait thats not right.

Paul Rhoads: DC for Pittsburgh

and as already mentioned TCU's defensive coordinator as well.

Didn't Rhodes almost come to Auburn before they got Chizik?

I personally would prefer a DC who's name doesn't sound like a description of genital warts.

Why?  Is it a painful reminder of your own shortcomings?

Bauer's in jail.  Chuck Norris is hard at work on the Huckabee campaign trail, but he could moonlight as the DC.
A cleverly placed roundhouse kick would surely do wonders for the turnover ratio.

Supposedly the early candidate for WM's replacement is John Tenuta.  I thought he was on his way to LSU, but nothing has been signed yet, or even agreed to in principle.  I'm sure this one will drag out for a few days or so, but I'd be happy as hell with this hire if it were to take place.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Two Words- Ed Orgeron

Orgeron is a DL coach at heart (coached DL at USC). Our coaching position assignment makes it so that the Defensive Coordinator takes the role of the team's Secondary/Defensive Backs coach. Orgeron has no experience coaching the secondary so we'd more or less need to get rid of Coach Dunn for any Orgeron hire to happen, and that wont happen.

I would love to have another fiery guy like a Muschamp or Orgeron though. I think that kind of personality meshes well with Tubby.
