HS? I don't think I've had a cool job my whole life. I grew up working for my dad's back yard steel company. I was of course the lowest guy on the totem pole, so I got to spend my days cleaning all the mill scale and grease off the steel when it came in, or getting it ready to paint after the cutting and welding were done. Probably the 2 worst jobs in those strings of summers and weekends:
1.Painting the inside of steel tanks - 1st of all you can't breathe, 2nd of all, you've basically got to wear a body condom to keep the paint off of you, and 3rd, no matter how early in the morning you start, once the sun hits the steel, it's about 150 degrees inside the tank before you can get finished.
2. We built several docks for the Corps of Engineers. They were basically two big pontoons with a holding tank in the middle for houseboats to empty their sewer. The steel sat in water all the time, and the paint that coated it was the nastiest, stickiest, foul smelling concoction you've ever seen in your life. Kind of like that stuff on Superman 3. Painting and cleaning up that shit sucked.
