Watching a documentary on Hitler...
« on: February 09, 2009, 10:48:12 AM »
I was watching a documentary on Hitler over the weekend.

The "stimulus package" reminds me very much of what the Fuehrer did to win over the minds of the German people.

Germany was in the grip of a severe economic recession.  Hitler pumped up the economy by expanding the role of government into business, creating jobs by putting people on the government payroll.  In short, he made the people dependent on his government to survive.

The good?  His civil and infrastructure projects are unparalleled in German history.

The bad?  Well, do we have to go into all that?

Don't forget he was one hell of a public speaker as well.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

I don't think he compared them but he did point out a parallel, as did I.  The greatest "public works projects" have typically come with a very centralized government.  Germany and Rome are a couple that come to mind.  Would your reaction have been different had he used Caesar in lieu of Hitler?

Yes. Both are hard core socialists who envision a new world order.

Both want the nation to depend on them rather than their own ingenuity and wherewithall to survive.

Both seek to establish a government that controls every facet of life.

Both want to substitute government policy for natural economic order.

Am I saying Obama will start killing Jews? I hope not. But he has the same sense of self that Hitler did. And like Hitler he mistakes 51% for a unanimous mandate.

They are both socialists. It's just a matter of how far Obama is allowed to go with it.

No, it's not.

Was Hitler a socialist?  Did he use government "bailout" money to put people to work?  Did he use that to increase public reliance on government?  Did he see himself as the harbinger of a new world order? Was he a megalomaniac?

All of that can be said of Obama right now.

If you can dispute, please do.

Did he kill the Jews?

FDR was a BAD president.  This country is still reeling from the garbage he put into place and then the mess that idiot Lyndon Johnson added later.

Nope, but he was a socialist, used the government to "create jobs" in a  time of economic despair and made people more dependent on the government.  He was also a megalomaniac.  The dumbshit thought so much of himself that he actually thought he could deal with Stalin and said him to be a reasonable man.  Watch "FDR a Presidency Revealed" on the History Channel.  So he didn't kill jews, may have detained the Japanese that were here, but he was not better in his political ideology that who he was at war with.

Agreed.  Both were shitty presidents, although it makes the democrats mad as hell when you point out both of their flaws.

Change the word Stalin to Putin (or Bin Ladin or any other enemy of America) and you're talking about Obama again.

Well, it is pretty simple.  Hitler was more fascist then he was socialist, regardless of what he did while in office.  Hitler was certifiably insane.  Hitler's new world order is was based on Pagan beliefs in which he tied his antisemitic views.  Obama is not holding hate rallies, book burnings, and definitely is not basing his presidency the United States as a single superior race.   Oh, and thats another difference.  Fuhrer does not equal President...and if you realistically think Obama is going to abolish Congress and declare himself Czar of America...you might need medication.

Another parallel:

Hitler blamed all the country's woes on the Weimar Republic, his governing predescessor.

Obama is blaming all the mess we are in on Bush and the Repubs.

Yes, Hitler was certifiable.  A comparison to Julius Caesar would have been a better analogy, perhaps, but either way, the rise to power of all three men is the same.  It wasn't until Hitler had consolidated his power that he brought out the Final Solution and reveal his psychopathy.  Obviously, Obama is not psycho, but the cult of personality and the fawning blind obedience, the ability to whip crowds into a frenzy with oratorical skills, the promising to fix all the problems that the previous administration caused - the similarities are unmistakable.

There is a taboo in this world about Hitler comparisons.  You can, however, separate the evil from the government for purposes of a discussion - the Final Solution was not the only part to his Master Plan - it was just one facet - a horrible, evil, facet, but just one part.

Interesting discussion thread but it's all academic at this point.  With the inevitable passing of the 'stimulus' plan along with the sketchily detailed TARP II; FedGov will have more power than it's ever had over us and it's only going to get worse.

Watched a little of Obama's fucking speech today.

His sense of mandate seriously pisses me off.

"Did you send us to Washington for more of the same failed policies??"

Crowd: "NO!"

"You sent us to change things!!"

Crowd: "YES!! YES!!"

And we're GOING to change things!

Crowd: Orgasm! Orgasm!

51%?  And he's damn sure going to ignore the 49.
