HALLELUJAH!
« on: January 30, 2009, 04:39:47 PM »
Please pardon my enthusiasm but I just got some great news; Michael Steele will be taking over as the new RNC Chairman!  Mike Duncan is a nice fellow but we've had nothing but one disastrous election after another with him in charge.  It's not all his fault of course but the bucks got to stop somewhere.  I posted in this forum last week that this election was going to be a big deal.  I'm VERY encouraged to see Steele in this leadership position.

Now, with some COMPETENT, CONSERVATIVE leadership in Michael Steele the Republican Party will be back on track!

This really is great news!

And real HOPE AND CHANGE!

From Politico.com, all emphasis is my own:

It's Steele!

Former Maryland Lt. Gov Michael Steele triumphed over four opponents in the race for Republican National Committee chairman Friday, giving the party its first black chairman as well as a forceful communicator at a time of political weakness.

“This is awesome,” Steele told RNC members in a victory speech. “It is with a great deal of humility and a sense of service that I accept and appreciate and thank all of you for the opportunity to serve.”

Steele emerged victorious from a lengthy, six-ballot voting process. Running against him were incumbent RNC Chair Mike Duncan, South Carolina Republican Party Chair Katon Dawson, Michigan Republican Party Chair Saul Anuzis, and former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell.

This can't be true.  The evil, racist Republicans are being led by a black man.

Of course, I know that you are being sarcastic.

But for the benefit of others who can't believe that the evil, bigoted, racist, Republicans just elected a black man, here's his uncharacteristically subdued victory speech this afternoon:

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Yeah, he has a lot of public recognition and I think he's generally very positively perceived.

The former RNC Chairman Mike Duncan was not a bad fellow but he was a hand-picked choice of President Bush; it's a great thing that the party is beginning to shake-off the Bush-era and quickly move back to the right.

As I've written before, I was very proud of the House Republicans this week sticking together to vote against The ONE's (and the Democrats socialist's) travesty of an economic stimulus plan.  And I should also point out that the OPPOSITION to that bill was bi-partisan...not the support as there were eleven (I think) conservative Democrats who voted with the House Republicans.

I made sure to send a personal Thank You to Rep. John Boehner (R-OH).

These REAL CHANGES are very encouraging signs.

Another fricking Uncle Tom?

Wonder how many educated blacks it will take coming over to the conservative side before there are too many to call Uncle Tom anymore?

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
