Interview Follow up letter...
« on: January 15, 2009, 12:23:24 AM »
I have a question for you guys.

Went on an interview last week.  This was a second "in person" interview I've been on for this position.  All went well...great actually.  Even though the job isn't particularly something I'm dreaming about, it is a good one and certainly better than my current one (non-existant)  :rimshot:

Anyway, I was sent an email asking to take an online test which took me about an hour.  I used the interviewers email to respond back informing them I'd completed the test and also as an opportunity to send a brief follow up letter thanking them again for the interview.

Since I'd already sent them the "thank you" in the email I didn't handmail a written letter.  Think I screwed up?  I know the rule is to do so within 24 hours so I'm passed that deadline anyway but was curious as to what you guys (and gals) thought...

Did you write one after the first interview?  If so, I wouldn't worryabt after the second.

This is kind of a funny thing nowdays, when hiring decisions happen so fast and snail mail is so slow.  It is hard to decide what to do...

Yeah, I did send one after the first.  Again, email not snail mail though.  It was back in October though...this company has been moving very slowly in regards to filling this position.  Whole job hunts been slow...hope Barry can fix this come next week.

I guess its all a mute point now.  Its too late to do anything about it otherwise right? Just curious what the opinions were I guess...

It could depend on the type of position and level, but I wouldn't worry about it.  You're e-mail should be fine.  Besides, the Waffle Hut doesn't normally expect the kitchen help to write too often anyway.  Although, it could show management potential.

Believe it or not (and it took me by surprise too) but occasionaly the scribble on that yellow sheet the waitress hands you IS in fact, a form of the english language.  At least I was told that anyway.

I hope this phrase was not used anywhere in your correspondence.

If it was, don't expect to get this job.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Here's a good test for you managers that hire workers...

Just as the interview is ending, walk them outside and between the small talk go, "Hey, look at the dead bird."..

If they look UP....   not so good.

He is one that I have used before.  When walking them out to the foyer, if they cannot figure out within two tries which door is unlocked and operable out of the pair that they had already come through to get into the building then they are not going to work here.
