He is a solid enough player to get drafted, then all he has to do is beat out a few people in the camps. Depending on who drafts him, that is very possible. Also, like others said, he graduates in May, so unlike a lot of early NFL draftees, he is going there with his degree already.
As to my comment as to he may not be too optimistic about this year, it was not about what he could learn under Chizik, it was about the whole team and season altogether. Given CTT fiasco and he might have known about the Ted Roof hiring, he may just feel like the team is not going to do much better next year than this past year with no real possibility of winning an SEC championship during his senior year. So if he is going to have his degree before next season, why not go ahead and get into the NFL, making some decent $$$? He might not start his first year, but that does not mean he will not improve enough to start. There are many NFL starters and even superstars that were not highly drafted or did not play much their first couple of years.
As an Auburn fan, I would like to see him back, but I can't hate the guy for doing what he thinks is best for him. We all do it everyday when it comes to our jobs or families.
