Jay BoulwareJay Boulware, who coached with Gene Chizik at Iowa State the last two seasons, is Auburn's new special teams coordinator.
He's following Chizik from Iowa State to Auburn, and becomes the fourth official member of Chizik's Auburn coaching staff.

"I've had the good fortune of working with Coach Chizik the last two seasons and I am thrilled to be joining his staff at Auburn," Boulware said. "Auburn has a wealth of history and tradition... I can't wait to get started."

Boulware was both the special teams and running backs coach at Iowa State. The new running back coach at Auburn is Curtis Luper.

Boulware has coached at Texas, Northern Illinois, Arizona, Stanford, Utah and Iowa State.

 
"I'm very familiar with Jay and we are extremely pleased to have him coming on board with us at Auburn," Chizik said. "Jay has a great work ethic, a strong knowledge of special teams, and he is a very good recruiter. He is a welcomed addition to our staff that we are putting in place."

Iowa State ranked is 12th nationally in kickoff returns. Leonard Johnson set an NCAA record with 319 kickoff return yards earlier this season against Oklahoma State. ISU was also second in the Big 12 Conference in punting. His Ute special teams were Mountain West Conference leaders.

Boulware was an offensive lineman at Texas. He recruited Texas, even when he was an assistant coach at Utah.

Luper, who was hired away from Oklahoma State, flew into Auburn on Sunday morning with Cowboys' assistant coach Trooper Taylor. Luper is trying to encourage Taylor to join the Auburn staff, too. Taylor has SEC experience from his days as a receivers coach at Tennessee.

That's African American Coach #3 on board, #4 could be coming soon with Coach Troop...#5 if Coach Rocker is named as the DL Coach.  I wonder what Loud Mouth is gonna say about that.
