With practice underway, it's a good time to make some prognostications regarding this year's iteration of the Auburn Tigers.  What ya got?

Lots of uncertainty around the league at crucial positions.  Arky probably has the best returning QB, but he lost the bulk of his offensive weapons.  Will Rogers is a quality QB, but he's got a new coach and (I'm guessing) a new scheme to learn.  I think A&M will be a shitshow with Jimbo and Bobby P butting heads constantly.  UGA is breaking in a new QB, but with their OL and skill players, that should be an easier transition than the rest of the conference will experience.  I'm not sold on BK at LSU and I think the new QB will be their Achille's heel.

Bama is going to stumble this year.  Poor QB play, Saban with his eye on his beach house in Jupiter...they lose 3-4.

I think LSU is overrated.  I've said that on several occasions.  But, I mean from the standpoint of numerous analysts picking them to win the West.  However, they still have the best QB in the conference, pretty much the entire offensive line returning, one of the top rated WR corps in the conference, and probably the best defensive player in the SEC.  Add to that, the fact that we're playing them in The Rude. 

How do you make a case for us?

As for Bama, they're still light years ahead of us in overall talent. No way to argue that, given that they've had either the #1 or #2 recruiting class for almost 15 years in a row. The only argument against that would be, "Nuh Uh!"

Have we beaten them in JHS when they've had more talent than us?  Of course.  2017 and 2019.  And those were such big upsets that we stormed the field.  But to sit here in August and say we will beat them, would be based on no objective criteria other than thinking we can upset them again.  We could, but no way, no how will we be favored to do so.

Good debate to have.

My question on the QB is, who can you say is better? 

Daniels was 266-388 69%  17 TD's and 3 INT's.  144.5 RTG

He also had 885 yards rushing with 11 TD's on the ground.

KJ Jefferson had less yards through the air, but more TD's (24)  Daniels was more productive on the ground in both yards and TD's.  I'd put KJ right there with him, but everything I've read says Arky lost a ton of production at WR.

I can't put Will Rogers anywhere near the top, despite his prolific production.  If he does it without The Pirate running the show....maybe.  But, you don't hear a word from NFL scouts about Rogers. Quintessential system QB. Chris Todd would have put those numbers up.

Joe Milton: No body of work.

One that might blow everybody away is Devin Leary at Kentucky.  He had a monster 2021 at NCST.  Don't know why he only played in 6 games last year. Injuries, maybe?

Could see where we start out 3-0 before heading into that murderers row to be 3-3.
Maybe lose a squeaker in Baton Rouge and then beat Ole Miss which could very well lead to a string of victories before the Iron Bowl.

It makes sense to temper expectations in Freeze's innaugural campaign at 6-6 with a bowl invite but I could see the team going from 3-3 and finishing up a more than respectable 4-2 from there... losing perhaps to Arkansas and overmatched by Alabama to finish 7-5 with a good bowl invite.

And who knows? Cash out this first season at 8-5, "Cock of the Walk Baby!"

Losing less than 5 is very realistic and obtainable. Losing less than 4 is realistic and obtainable, without the very in front.
