I hate to think about what Brandon Miller is going to do against our pee-wee defense.  This was the 3rd game in a row that a tall good shooting guard has had a field day against Greene and Johnson.  Expect more of the same the rest of the season.  Maybe we can start a new home win streak, but I don't expect to see another road win.

There was home cooking in that game. I probably sound petty, but fuck those refs. Besides the obvious end game 3-point foul against WG, there were a shit ton of horrid calls that favored the Vols.

We need players that can hit the 3 ball consistently. We don’t have that and haven’t had that in a couple of years.

Agreed...although if we find a consistent shooter down the stretch, 5-3 or even 6-2 is not impossible.

I think you are confusing potential with top performance.
As a coach, you have to estimate what is my team’s average sustainable talent. Not how they can play at the top of their game. We are not an upper level talent team.
We cannot play our best every game. We see what talent we have when we can play at that level. But no team can sustain a level of play that is above their normal average. Other teams’ average level of sustainable talent is higher than ours.
We might see a great game here or there, but we aren’t at a high enough level to compete this season.
Maybe when we get some shooters we’ll raise our sustainable level back up to where we are accustomed to.

The collie molesters shot 39 free throws to our 14.  Once we went up 12 in the first half, the zebras decided to change the game.  Fuck those guys

^^^This right here^^^  Winning on the road is tough enough, but a 39 to 14 disparity is virtually impossible to overcome.  Yes, there were some stupid shots and turnovers down the stretch.  We still let it get away.  But call that game even remotely even, and the score is not close.

I hate to call this game Saturday, crucial, but I believe it is.  I flipped around to a bunch of games last night, and watched teams with pretty much the same record as ours, including Arkansas and Kentucky.  All these teams look like they’re playing for a higher seed in the tourney, and we feel like we’re playing our way out of it.  Our “signature” wins this season may be Florida and a depleted Arkansas squad.  A win over Bama could change our fortunes completely.  It’s always doable on our home floor.  Lose, and we’re sitting at 17-8 and trying to find a way to play our way into the tournament.
