Living here in the Wiregrass, there's not a lot of access to good chefs. We have two, maybe three restaurants here where you can get a meal that you're still talking about days later. I was in Atlanta this weekend helping my brother move. I know that's everybody's favorite pastime, but he treated us to a couple of great places in return. He's moving to Roswell, which is somewhere I've only been through, not to. When we drove "downtown", I knew this was a place to Snaggs' liking. Blocks of restaurants, shops pubs and breweries. A ton of outside dining and it seemed like everybody had their pups with them. I'm going to be visiting my brother a lot in the future.
Hit a place called Salt Factory Pub. I believe they have 3 in the Atlanta area. Started out with a cold, tasty IPA from a local brewery. (Forget the name) I went with the cajun flavors, starting out with Louisiana Egg Rolls, which have chicken, andouille sausage, charred corn and spinach, with a creole honey mustard sauce.
The entree was Pan Crisped Trout with andouille sausage, potato hash, green beans/sliced bell pepper, all covered in a crawfish monica sauce. That was my first experience with Monica and she knows how to please. A white wine, heavy cream (Mmmm...) sauce with creole seasoning.
I'm just all about experiencing new flavas prepared by a great chef. As I said, that's few and far between in these parts. I shouldn't complain, we still have a Shoney's.
