Previsoes de Semana 9
« on: November 17, 2020, 11:05:40 AM »
After a Rona break, it looks like college football will get back to a fairly full slate of games this weekend.  Very few titanic clashes but again, a lot of intriguing story lines. One OOC game that stands out is Cincinnati going to UCF.  I get it, nobody cares.  But if you haven't seen the Bearcats play this year, you're missing out.  Luke Pickle, who most definitely wont be coaching Cincy next year, has them playing at a high level on both sides of the ball.  Would Bama or Clemson or tOSU tear them a new one?  Probably so.  But I wouldn't want to play em' right now.  So since I talked them up, UCF easily wins by 14.

Giant killer, Liberty, Liberty, Liiiiberty, gets another shot at a Power 5 club when they travel to NC State.  Maybe Freeze can customize their game plan so they only get the points they need.  Okay, that was as good as I can do.  It would be a good story to see Malik & Co. knock off the Pack Saturday.

One other OOC game of note is Clemson at FSU. I only mention that to ask would you have ever believed FSU would be a 30+ point underdog at home against anybody? Thirty plus!!!  Holy schnikies, how far has that program fallen?  So let's talk about it.

LSU at Arkansas:  Back to the "Would you have ever believed" department.  Arkansas is a 2 point favorite.  I'ma let that sink in for a minute.  Arky got it handed to them pretty good this past Saturday.  However, they still put up 35 themselves and truth be told, when Go Gaytah is clicking on offense, I think they're as good as anyone in the nation.  Weapons all over the place.  Legit, playing on Sundays weapons.  This is just me from the outside looking in, but I have a feeling the Hogs are just as pumped as they have been all season.  This is a program that's come from colossal shittasticness, to going toe to toe with just about everybody they play.  And LSU....good Gawt, do they even care about this game.  And with sexual assault allegations being leveled at their program, I'm thinking their mind won't be on this one.  Is this even an upset?

Arkansas:  35

LSU:  24

Kentucky at Alabama:  Bama schemes to put Mac Jones back in the minds of the Heisman voters.  Name your score.  I'll say:

Alabama:  56

Kentucky:  17

Tennessee at Auburn:  A couple of years ago, I was sitting in JHS for the early morning, Jefferson Pilot, match up between out Tiggers and the traveling band of Cheetoes.  UT wasn't very good, but kept coming down with miracle catches on long throws and doing just enough to keep pace.  Jarrett Stidham, on the other hand, looked like 5 day old road kill.  It was the prototypical Malzahn coached, QB performance.  One read and run for your life toward the sideline.  Ugly day.

After slinging it around the field 47 times against the now Corchless Gamecocks in a tight game, MalMorris obviously changed the game plan.  Against Ole Miss, they went back to a run heavy, quick throw approach and got the win.  When LSU came to town, they still kept it more run heavy, but really spread the ball around.  I can't recall a game where so many different players got significant touches.  They had an already discombobulated LSU D on their heels all day.  Nix had his best overall day as a Tiger.  My hope is they have been preaching more of the same and stay run first, and don't say, "Well Bo clearly has it together, so let's turn him loose."  Sadly, I can see Gus doing something that stupid.  But, if they drive the Tank right at the Vols all day and work in play action, I'd say:

Auburn 38

Tennessee:  21

Liberty is really fun to watch.  Malik is a legit badass in Freeze's offense...300 passing, 100 rushing and 5 TDs total last week.

Norvell's stint at FSU hasn't exactly blown anyone's skirt up.  Would we even notice if Willie Taggart was still there?

Shit is about to get ugly in BR, I think.  They have gotten spoiled and the losses were already enough to stick in the cajun craw, but throw in some spicy sexual assault allegations and Coach O might be relegated to coaching the Mud Dogs of SWLSU.  All of that said, however, I think LSU can out-athlete the hogs and the game might just be a welcome distraction from everything else.

LSU - 24
Ark - 17

Bama/UK...who the fuck cares.  Bama scores 90+ and the world doesn't blink.  What a boring assed team to follow.

UTenn is showing signs of implosion just after the Pruitt-tenure was beginning to show signs of life.  Half the staff was asked to take a pay cut, they've lost 4 in a row (UGA, UK, Bama, Ark) and started the season with wins over USCe and Mizzou.  Are they any good?  Fuck if I know.  Is that Guarantano kid still the QB?  I think so.  Will Gus/Chad forget all the things that were working prior to our two week holiday?  Goddamned good chance, I'd say.

AU - 24
UTenn - 14

One game I totally overlooked is Indiana at THE Ohio State University.  On a national scale. it's easily the biggest game of the week with both programs currently undefeated and in the top 10.  However, nobody down here gives a rippity flip and if what I heard on the radio a bit a ago is true, most people around the country don't either.  They said tOSU is a 21 point favorite.  Admittedly, I've watched a grand total of 1minute and 17 seconds of these two live, combined.  Only know what I see in highlights and what the talking heads are saying.

But similar to the upstart stories of Cincy and Liberty, it's kind of cool to think the Hoosiers may have the athletes to at least play with the Buckeyes for a while.  Not that I care either way, but it'd be neato-keen in a new Mustang sort of way to see an upset here. And you have a coach in Tom Allen, who has seemingly built a solid program from the ground up.

It's wild that Indiana has a chance at a B1G Title in November.

But we've all seen this play before and Indy ain't going to the playoffs.

Oh for sure.
And Bloomington is a fucking great place to work/visit.  Probably the best college town in the Big-10.

I watched a little of the Badger/Wolverine debacle.  Michigan looked eerily similar to the 2012 Auburn Tigers.  They didn't even want to tackle anybody.  Even Snagette said they're not even trying.  That's when it's time for your corch to exit stage right.

Which begs the question...  Which fan base wants to get rid of their coach more, Auburn or Michigan?

I am going to take your word for this - but all this does is make me shake my head more at Gustard. Different coach...less talent.....thriving, and doing it against big boys apparently.

Can't think of a whole lot I'd rather be doing on a Fall afternoon than grilling, blowing the froth off a couple of too many and watching college football. Y'all go trim the hedges or pressure wash the driveway.
