What are everyone's thoughts on this weekend? Is it possible that Auburn does the unthinkable and drops the Homecoming game to UT-Martin? I admit I don't know shit about UT Martin, but the way we're playing right now, there are no guaranteed wins.
SKYHAWKS JUMP INTO FIRST PLACE IN OVC FOOTBALL STANDINGS October 25, 2008MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin has moved into first place in the Ohio Valley Conference football standings with a league record of 5-1 and an overall record of 7-2. The Skyhawks defeated No. 20 Jacksonville State, 31-30, Thursday night in front of a national television audience on ESPNU. The win combined with Tennessee State's overtime loss to Southeast Missouri State Saturday helped the Skyhawks jump into first place. Tennessee State and Eastern Kentucky round out the top three teams in the OVC. All three teams have one loss this season. "We control our own destiny," said Jason Simpson, UT Martin's third-year head coach. The Skyhawks will not play this week. The team returns to action Nov. 8 at Auburn. The Skyhawks will also travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., for a game against Southeast Missouri State Nov. 15. The Skyhawks will close out the season at home, Nov. 22, against Eastern Kentucky.
For days now I have been afraid to ask the following question:Does anyone just how good ut martin is supposed to be?
No matter how good they are, we'll make them look like worldbeaters.
He's not???
PPV isn't even carrying it. But hey guys, it's our last game of 2008 to be competitive in. Let's put our up.
Bullshit! One should completely forget about Auburn and Alabama's records year in and year out for the Iron Bowl. We can be competitive if we are trying to dethrone our bitter rival from their high ranking. Sure, we'll be a big time underdog, but that's the way I like it. We win homecoming, lose to Georgia, then beat 'bama. Shreveport, here we come!
I sure hope so. I wasn't at an age of cognitive football ability in 1989, but was Auburn in a similar boat as we are this year? Has there ever been an Iron Bowl where a smudge on the rug upset a top five caliber team?
Auburn finished that season 10-2, not exactly the same situation....But the whole "throw out the record books" argument is bullshit, almost always the favored team wins.
