AUBURN, Alabama—Auburn announced on Wednesday that it will allow only approximately 20 percent of the seats to be filled at Jordan-Hare Stadium for home football games this year and announced seating priority guidelines that will apply to the 2020 season.
Also, tailgating will not be allowed on the Auburn campus.
Twenty percent of the stadium capacity for the facility that holds 87,451 fans is 17,490.
An announcement from Auburn University states: “In an effort to contribute to the on-campus experience of our current students, all general seating tickets outside of controlled premium spaces and those designated for home and visiting team player and coach guests will be reserved for Auburn students for the home opener on Sept. 26 versus Kentucky. Ticket allocations for future games will be announced at a later date. As the season progresses, the seating plan and configuration may change as additional information related to covid-19 becomes available."
The controlled seating areas are the stadium suites, Broadway Club, Club Level and Beckwith Club. Members of the Tiger Walk Club won't have access to seats unless they also have a qualified game ticket, according to Auburn officials.
Auburn’s athletic director, Allen Greene, said, “We look forward to having Auburn students in attendance at our season opener and appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding as we adjust to this temporary reality of reduced capacity at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
“All attendees will share a responsibility for health and safety,†Greene added. “A zealous commitment to face coverings, physical distancing and personal hygiene will lead to the best outcome.â€

Priority level football season ticket holders will receive additional information via email, according to AU officials, who noted, “Tigers Unlimited members will have the opportunity to indicate their interest in attending any future games if tickets become available. Due to the large reduction in inventory, any available tickets after the season opener will be allotted on a single game basis with allocations based on TUF priority and demand.â€
Auburn students will receive additional information on instructions for requesting tickets to the home opener vs. Kentucky, which is scheduled for Sept. 26th. A kickoff time has not been set for that or any of the 10 games on Auburn's revised schedule, which includes only SEC contests. Auburn has five home games scheduled for the 2020 season after adding one conference home game and dropping three non-conference contests from the schedule.
Ticket holders will have the option to opt-out of attending games for the 2020 season, university officials noted. If a season ticket holder opts out that person will have three options for both Tigers Unlimited donations and season ticket purchases: ‘Believe in Auburn’ and make a philanthropic donation to support Auburn student-athletes, credit purchases to the 2021 season or receive a full refund for money paid for 2020 season tickets.
Face coverings will be required for all spectators and gameday workers and in accordance with CDC, state and local guidelines, tailgating will not be permitted on campus for the 2020 football season, university officials announced.
