One month out...
What's the consensus here: do we have a season? Do we have an abbreviated season?
Lincoln Riley just said that an entire position group got taken out by the virus...so they're missing all this crucial practice time.
I think the moneyed interests will force the matter...but will capitulate at some point. 3 game season.
Who wants the o/u on that?
The current situation with the NFL is encouraging to me. Saw a report last night that over the last few weeks, they had administered some crazy number of tests, something like 58,000, without one positive. There were over 70 "false positives", which they confirmed were tainted tests. Mmmm....taint. Even though I'm sure the NFL is taking things a step further as far as being able to isolate the players, that's still a very positive sign to me.
Here's the thing. I'm not sure what they're playing for, other than not losing money, of course. You can't really have a playoff without two of the Power 5 conferences involved. Well, you could but it wouldn't be the same. But then, nothing's really the same right now. You can't have a true Heisman winner without guys like Justin Fields in the mix. To me, it's kind of like they're playing an exhibition season just to rake in that TV revenue. I get it. And the players want that exposure as well.
I think if the Rona hits a team or two, they'll handle it like MLB has been doing. The Cardinals organization got hit hard by it and lost a couple of weeks of the season. But they're back up and running and playing catch up. I think if a team has to shut it down for a while, they just do and everybody else keeps playing.
Having said all that, I'm taking the over.
