Maybe it's always been this way, but it just seems to me that as a society, we've recently become fixated on assigning oftentimes, ridiculous terms and phrases to whatever is going on. Whether it's media or politicians or simply through social media, we have to label everything and hammer it into everyone's brain until the next, new thing comes along. For instance, who decided to describe somebody as:
Woke? What the hell does that even mean? I woke up this morning, but I really wasn't woke until I had my second cup of coffee.
And is it just a movement through society, or is it a particular group of people calling themselves the Cancel Culture? What do they do, and is there a leader or board of directors who make the decisions on who or what gets cancelled?
I saw an article this morning stating an airline was going to stop using the term, "Ladies and Gentlemen" and instead start using more Gender-inclusive terms like, "Hello everyone." I know some people like to identify as the opposite gender, but wouldn't Ladies and Gentlemen pretty much still cover that? Am I missing another gender somewhere? Hello Ladies and gentlemen and...you others..... I guess it’s best to remain gender-neutral so that we don’t reinforce gender binaries. WTF?
Politically, I would have to estimate that the terms Collusion and Obstruction have been uttered no less than eleventy bwazillion times a week for over two years. When it finally fizzled and that ship had sailed, I guess they needed a quick replacement. Enter Quid Pro Quo, a term which half the country had to look up prior to feeling comfortable about using in casual conversation.
Yo Prez. Love ya’ Boo! But could you please stop calling everything a Witch Hunt? I realize what the Deep State has been doing resembles just that, but let’s try and come up with something more creative to describe each coup attempt. Hey, how about Unmasking? No, that doesn’t quite fit and is long since overused. Oh well, it’s all Fake News anyway.
Some of these terms, I don’t understand. Guess I need to be more lit or turnt and that might help, I think.
