Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

This is a stupid answer to me. Who you going to get, is not a viable reason, to keep the status quo.

This is a stupid answer to me. Who you going to get, is not a viable reason, to keep the status quo.
So your wife is a serial cheater, she's mean to the kids and treats you like crap.  But nobody reallk knows it because they're not in the middle of it like you are.  Everybody thinks ya'll are such a great couple and you're a lucky guy.

You should stay together?  Endure that knowing that she's going to cheat again (the Sexton and Arkansas rumors), she's going to be mean to the kids (breaking Kerryon, breaking Tre, failing to develop a quarterback, failure to develop an offensive line) and she's going to treat you like crap (ignorant offensive game plans, a failure to learn from past mistakes, continued abortions on the field).

That is the choice a sad sack loser would make.  I know.  Endured most of that for years, thinking it was magically somehow going to get better.  There was always that magical "when."  When this happens, when that happens it's going to be great.

But when never gets here.
When Gus has a quarterback for more than one season.
When Gus has a defense that can keep the opponent from scoring 50
When Gus has a five-star QB
When Gus has a dual threat
When Gus has a drop-back passer
When Gus has a better OC
When Gus gets back to calling plays
When Gus is the CEO

When, when, when, when, when.

But there is no when. When comes and then it's another when.

Short version?  Fuck Gus.

I had the same conversation with a Bama fan yesterday.  It started with the typical questions/statements:

You guys gonna' fire Gus?

Who you gonna' get?  I mean, who's out there that's better?

There's about 100 teams out there that would kill to be 7-3.

A few observations here.  Outside of the world of Auburn fandom, I truly believe Malzahn is thought as as a "good" coach.  I think the highlights of his AU career have been burned into people's memories, with playing for a Nattie, the Prayer at Jordan Hare, Kick 6 (Replayed 1,000,000,000,000 times) and recently beating two #1's in huge rivalry games.

I'm not saying the guy isn't solid in several areas, including consistently bringing in top talent, advocating for better facilities and representing the program with class. (For the most part)  But those of us who follow the program on a daily basis understand there are glaring deficiencies that will never be corrected.  K had the best analogy.  It's like an abusive marriage where you wonder if financially, you can walk away from it.  But you know exactly what you're getting if you stay.

What we're getting if we stay is 4-5 losses just about every single year and an absolutely abysmal record against our biggest rivals, LSU, FUGA and Bama.  I hear those same questions and statements every year.  Who would be better and how many teams would love to have a winning record every year?  All I hear when someone says that is, "You're Auburn.  Stay in your lane, bro."

I've said this countless times.  We have the facilities.  We have the tradition.  We have the fan base and support.  And we have $7 million duckies a year that says we can go out and get someone that gives notice to the football world that we're finally serious about winning.

Having said all that, does anyone really trust the PTB to at least try and make a Bruce Pearl type hire?  Or would we be saddled again with an up and comer.  A former Auburn assistant.  A good fit for Auburn.
