that is the Playoff rankings.

bammer at #5 Penn State drops to #9.  I'm not surprised, but give me a fucking break Penn State has at least beaten 2 ranked teams.  To date bama's strongest opponent that they have won was aTm.  So basically as long as bama beats us they are in and they don't have to play a conference championship....again.  That is such a fucking ridiculous premise.

Think about it:
We beat FUGA ...and lose to bama they are in.
We get beat by FUGA and bama, FUGA or LSU is losing in the SEC Championship...bam bammer in.

It's is so fucking rigged.  I never thought I'd say this but I want the old system back.

The second they announced a committee would be choosing the teams, I knew the whole thing would be flawed as hell.  Why not just let the old BCS system rank the teams?

Here's the thing. College football is the only sport I can think of in the world that's set up this way.  Whether it's the BCS system or the committee doing the selecting, what it comes down to is that 130 teams play a relatively short schedule of games, and then 126 of them are eliminated, in its current state, by a committee of people who "think" one team is better than another.

Yes, you have selection committees in other sports, but even in March Madness, the conference tournament winners earn their way in by winning the title.  Then the committee fills in the balance of 68 teams subjectively.

They can ramble on about the factors they use to determine their selections, but at the end of the day it's really nothing more than the eye test, which most certainly includes personal bias toward certain teams and conferences.

Really needs to be conference champions, period.  Doesn't matter how it's determined, each conference can figure that out for itself.  If they want to send regular season champs and do away with conference title game or if they want to let the title game winner go.  Up to the conference -- but it has to say before the season, not after.

So you've got:

Pac14
SEC
Little10
Little12
ACC

Winner of those conferences go into the bracket, seeded by rankings or committee or whatever.

Highest ranked team from the: Mountain West, CUSA, Sunbelt, MAC and AAC gets into the field automatically.

The winner of the other four mini conferences play a winner-gets-in single game to make the eight.

I will say something though in reality, the whole football championship is flawed, from NCAA to NFL. But Godfather why, how you may ask?

Because it is the only sport in which one game is played, to determine the best.  How can you crown a "true" champion when it is based on one game.  I hate the Patriots but you can't tell me in 2011-2012 season they weren't the best team in football...but they were because they lost the only game that mattered to the Giants.

IMO any team can beat any team on any given Saturday or Sunday.  It just happens, down games happen. Is that a fair and true indication of the "BEST" team that year?

This will never happen but honestly, the only way I think you could claim to be the best would be to play a series, best of 3.

I've said from the beginning that a playoff, the way it was proposed and implemented, would be worse and create more controversy than the "old" system.  It would only increase the instances of rematches and other things that people complained about.  Sure, the old way had its flaws, but it could have been vastly improved by a few tweaks.  I would have been fine with keeping it exactly the way it was and then take the top 4.  Computers don't care about money, etc.
