The - minus means that teams are giving the points (The Favorite). The + plus is the opposite of that meaning that team is getting the points (The Underdog)

So using Auburn and Oregon
Auburn is a -3.5 so that means they are the favorite and have to win by 3.5 points in order to win.

So if you pick Auburn as your choice they would need to win by at least 4 points.

If the final score were Auburn 33 Oregon 30 and you picked Auburn even though they won the did not cover the spread and you lose your bet. If the score were Auburn 34 Oregon 30 and you selected Auburn you would win. Conversely, with an underdog selection pick all that team has to do is win. So in this case if you picked Oregon and final score was Oregon 31 Auburn 30 you win because Auburn was the favorite and giving points.

A small spread is considered a pick'em game because the spread is small you are just picking who you think would win.

What gets difficult is the large spreads so you could have the Duke vs Bama score be something like bama 35 Duke 7 and if you picked bama you lose because they didn't cover the spread. Get it? Questions? No.... Good!

Well, I think 5-7 is a respectable start.....for a 4th grader. Not making excuses here because it's my fault I didn't go back and change some picks. It wasn't until after I made my picks that you guys started talking about point spread factoring in. I kept meaning to go back and look at them again, but never did.

The point spread dealio is a game changer. I am teh suxxors at teh spreads.
