On the way in to work this morning, our local sports talk show had a guy on named Justin who writes for The Athletic. The host kept saying his first name, never caught the full name. Anywho, a few tidbits I heard from the interview were that the linebackers, pretty much new across the board, looked damn good all spring. He said K.J. Britt and Chandler Wooten were solid and Zacoby McClain and Owen Pappoe were incredibly fast and athletic. He said Pappoe was as advertised.
He said the group that showed the biggest improvement by far was the O-line. He acknowledged their extreme sucktitude last year but they look like they might be pretty good this year. Didn't realize it but they're probably going to start 5 seniors this year if Kim wins the center spot. Doesn't say a whole lot about next year, does it?
One thing the guy said, which was just opinion, is that he actually thinks Malzahn is going to publically narrow down the QB race to Goatwood and Nix, and maybe do that starting tonight. The reasoning is that Gus is going on a golfing/speaking tour and he knows that's the one question he'll be bombarded with at every stop. Plus, if he does that, it would give Malik Willis the opportunity to enter the Continuum Transfunctioner thingy. But, if we know Gus, and we do, he'll drag it out and keep all 17 QB's in suspense until 5 minutes before kick off.
