To me, I think there's a pretty clear separation between the top 5-6 teams and everyone else. I'm looking at the #2 seeds and Michigan State may be the only legit contender out of the bunch. They won the regular season and conference tourney championships. I don't see Kentucky, Michigan or Tennessee scaring anyone, although weak brackets may allow a couple of them to skate through.

I think the first weekend may be scorched earth, especially if you pay attention to the ESPN talking bald heads. They're probably just hyping it for ratings but I can't recall them calling for more upsets than they have been so far this year.

Having said all that, the Final 4 will probably look like, Marquette, VCU, Iowa State and Purdue. I can sure pick em'.

I did something completely different this year. I went with the total underdog and picked Duke to win it all.

I know....I know.....spare me the ridicule. But, I think they have a puncher's chance. And if you really want a big laugh, my actual final 4 are Duke, UNC, Gonzaga and Virginia.

I know, right? But, it's all in good fun anyway.

I admit it's been years since I filled out a bracket. I really don't expect most of my picks to go more than 6 or 7 innings in the first round. But who knows, a goal here, an extra point there, a few penalty minutes in the box and one of these teams may advance.

Just so you know... Kentucky's best player PJ Washington has a badly sprained foot and Syracuse stud Frank Howard has been suspended indefinitely.

Might be a stretch but I got us winning two and meeting the eventual tourney runnerup Tar Heels.

Here's an update. Cinderella fail X2. Srsly...was on the road listening to games. The Belmont/Maryland game sounded like a classic. I was on I-10 freaking riveted to the call on Westwood 1. The guy from Belmont who had 33 and 11 sounded like a true badass.

I am disappoint. After day 1 there were no perfect brackets. CCT, Buzz and Wes are closest with just 2 misses.
I just wish I had remembered Richard Pitino was coaching Minnesota...

Louisville and the Cuse' both stabbed me in the back, but those were 7/10 and 8/9 match ups so that was to be expected. But those Terriers of Wofford, coming from an institution with a total undergrad enrollment of a whopping 1,592 students, hurt my feelings.
