I feel much better about this series. Flaherty going twice, and then two games at Busch. And Atlanta has to win 3 of those.

Bravos arenâ€™t there yet. Further ahead of what I thought they would be with a fantastic lineup, but the pitching is suspect. Specifically the bullpen. I wasnâ€™t even upset last night as I expected it.

The last third, or 241/405th of the season, it was the starting pitching that kept everything together. We were getting 6 or 7 solid innings just about every night out and the offense was doing just enough to take most series. The line up, just about top to bottom, was pounding the ball all year until Markakis and Dansby went down. The top 4 have continued to hit but the rest of the line up has never been the same.

I'm still optimistic, though. This team has been resilient all year. If they bounce back tonight, we've got ourselves a series.

The second double in the 9th was foul. Furthermore, Goldslagger came off the bag. Albies was safe, should have been tied. Iâ€™m still confident we would have lost in extra innings though.

Which leads me to a pet peeve I have had about replay in sports...

This happens much more in football, but that play at first was a prime example. "If they had called him safe the play would have stood."
Too many times you hear this. That leaves the decision really back in the referee/umpire's hands. Either you can get the camera angles necessary to have a true review or you don't. Why waste everyone's time with that crap?

Agree on the first part, but I couldn't argue on the foot coming off. Looked like he held it to me, but certainly wasn't clear enough to overturn the call. (Just saw Buzz' post. Agreed)

Assuming they called that ball foul and further assuming we get the guy out after that, (Huge assumption with the way Meloncamp was pitching) that would have held it to 5-3. We scored 3 in the 9th, which would have won it.

Hey....we really won last night. Fuck you, cheating Cards.

Seriously though, giving up 14 hits and 7 runs spells doom 99% of the time. I think/hope they even it up tonight.
