25 Greatest Rock Bands

I'm not sure what "New Arena" is but they love ranking stuff in entertainment.  Top guitarists, top shows etc.  Saw this list pop up on my interwebz rating the "25 Greatest Rock Bands of All Time".  They didn't give a lot of explanation on the criteria for ranking (At least I didn't go digging for it) but sometimes, there was just a blurb about record sales or selling out arenas.  I totally get that music is subjective and 25 people could make their own list with 25 different bands and rankings.  Good for discussion though.  here ya' go.

What say you?  I have issues with The Beatles being #1.  I understand their success and influence but they simply weren't together all that long relatively speaking.  Black Sabbath???  Santana???

Agreed on the too broad.  The Beatles and Metallica don't need to be competing against each other in any category.  I think it would have been better leaving the Black Sabbath's and Metallica's out of this particular discussion and in the metal genre.  That being said, most of...or 264/315th's of the rest have had multiple or mega-hits on mainstream radio.

The Eagles can only be "rock" if you apply a qualifier: "lite rock" "country rock" "AOR".

1) KISS - don't make me come over there and slap you.  In any discussion of the best rock bands of all time you cannot under any circumstances exclude the group that owns the American record for gold and platinum albums, a band that's in the HoF and a band that's now embarking on a sold out End of the Road Tour.  So kiss my painted butt.

I left off Barbara Striesand and Bette Midler, too.  And I forgot Cher, Nelly, Conway Twitty, Barry White and Zamfir.    

Seriously Deep Purple was excluded and that's bad.
