as far as the Supreme Court is concerned, it might not be that bad. For conservatives, we have: Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, and Alito. The Liberasl have: John Paul Stevens, Souter, Ginsburg, and Breyer.
Kennedy is usually a swing vote. Sometimes Breyer and Souter switch sides, but it is rare.
You can count on the conservative justices making it through the next 4 years and Kennedy lasting another 10 years. So we'll still have somewhat of a majority.
If Obama wins, i see Justice Stevens and Justice Ginsburg stepping down for retirement. their health is failing. Point being, I don't think we need to worry too much at the moment about new Justices. The liberal justice will get replaced with other liberals, and the conservatvie justices will probably out last an Obama presidency
