We've had some bad luck with who I thought were going to be some big time receivers in recent years. And big guys at that. Duke Williams went mental. Kyle Davis went..was it mental?...was he a druggie?....not sure why he left. Now NCM.
I hate the way the game has changed and looking like we're headed for free agency in college football. Part of me understands the need to go elsewhere to a place you can be the man and get more exposure. But, I also think that's somewhat misguided. I have to think that most of these guys think they're going to be NFL ready, despite how the percentages actually work out. At the very least, it's in the back of their minds.
However, pull up any NFL roster and go down the list. It's dominated by guys who, regardless of how close you follow college football, make you ask who the hell that is? I think these NFL scouts have measuring and grading your actual physical abilities down to such a science, that they don't give a flippity flip who you played for, if you caught 200 passes, if you rushed for 3,000 yards or if you were just a special teams player. If you have the right measurables, NFL coaches will teach you how to play the position properly. If you don't, then you'll be lucky to make the practice squad.
How is Brandon King still playing in the League and the SEC sack leader, Paul Holland, goes undrafted?
