Hit JHS this past Saturday for the Sting. Stayed until the ASU band finished, then headed back to the Wiregrass after a quick stop at GH's and Joe's. The new press/recruiting building is complete. Sits just to the right of the Super Mega-Tron JJ 4,000 scoreboard and fits in seamlessly. Not a bad addition and barely noticeable next to that monstrosity.
BTW, have I ever told you how much I hate that damn thing? I swear the stadium looks like it's going to tip over under the weight of it. Absolutely useless. Well useless except for fan-cam and blaring hippity-hop between EVERY SINGLE PLAY. No lie. Every play. Doesn't matter if our band is playing or not, which they were trying to on multiple occasions. Didn't matter one iota. They were going to drown them out with snippets of shitty music between every play. It's horrible. It's morphed into a situation where Auburn is still all about tradition....right up until kickoff.
Another touch, which is somewhat positive. They may have had this some last year but it might have been on the games where I was drinking heavily. The little dude in the red cap that walks out on the field during TV timeouts, now has a digital board with him that counts down the time. As stupid as this sounds, it seemed to make it go by faster. You always sat in the stands staring at him going, "Get the hell off the field. Get the hell off the field."
The only other observation is that it was hot as balls Saturday. And I know balls. It's supposed to be 93 degrees this weekend for the 2:30 kick off.
