Gas In Atlanta

My dad just called and said that almost every station in Marietta is out of gas.  Anybody know what the deal is?

yea all the Chicken Littles ran to the gas stations and filled up every container they could find that would hold gas.

Add to that problem that Atlanta has been on the "extra clean" California gas and the relaxed regulations regarding people in ATL having access to the regular higher sulfur content gasoline has not filtered all the way down to the individual stations.

This is high comedy to folks like me that live in what everyone else considers hick ville where we have plenty of gas.   I think I will go buy some and pour it out on the ground....just because I can.

Absolutely Fucking Ridiculous.

Had to wait in line 30 minutes for gas last night in Decatur around 9:00 PM.  This was at the only gas station that had gas within a 5 mile radius of my house (about 20 total stations).  The lesbians must've really needed fuel for their Harley's, because they were out en masse.

Other gas stations in the immediate metro area of Atlanta are out too.  People are freaking out.  I've had multiple appointments cancel on me because they can't get here because they're out of gas.

You should of seen the people pushing their cars up to the pump last night.  Also, it really brings out the worst in people when you run out gas, apparently.  Mother Fuckers were cutting each other off, fighting over who's next, and generally being asses.  This was compounded by multiple dumbasses smoking while waiting in line.

Luckily for me, I use diesel. Plenty of that up here. I tried to take a pic last night at the local BP. It was hilarious. Folks were wrapped around every which way. I bet they burned a half a tank just to fill up.. The Kroger was already out ant the QT was out. But if you go down the road two miles toward the lake, there is plenty of gas. People are stupid.

Gov. Purdue has asked that the summer blend mandate end early. It usually ends Sept. 30th. Hopefully they can truck in fuel from out of town then.

I live in Cobb County and I have not seen gas lines this bad since 1976.  I've been using E-85 Ethanol lately and that's the ONLY fuel that is readily available at the Texaco.

Here's a statement sent from my local Congressman released by the Georgia Agriculture Commissar (Yes, I meant to spell it that way):

"The following information was sent late today by the Agriculture Commissioner of Georgia. Please know the information and conclusions are those of the Commissioner. My effort is to simply pass along what may be helpful information."

Commissioner Tommy Irvin
Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin, who regulates gas stations in Georgia, released the following information today to answer questions pertaining to the Gasoline shortage in metro Atlanta. 
  In early September back to back hurricanes hit Louisiana and Texas   
  The refineries in both areas were closed and evacuated at the time of impact. Extensive floods and power outages in the affected areas have caused 6 refineries to remain closed.This accounts for roughly 1.7 million barrels per day of production capacity.
  The ports around Galveston and Houston were closed for a few days. Restrictions remain in place to include daylight transit only for vessels with drafts over 34 feet.
  The oil drilling platforms were also evacuated during the hurricanes. Currently 76% of the Gulf's crude oil production remains shut-in.
  Approximately 85% of the fuel in Georgia comes from Louisiana and Texas refineries through one of two pipe lines serving the terminals in Georgia.
  With the refineries, platforms, and ports all being closed for a period of time, this shut down the production of crude oil and refined petroleum products which lead to a lack of "push barrels" which are required to push the product through the pipeline to Georgia.
  Georgia is also in the midst of the fall harvest season for peanuts and cotton. There is always an increase in consumption of diesel fuel during this time.Southwest Georgia diesel supplies remain at a very low level.
  All of the aforementioned problems, when combined with the issue that the metro Atlanta area is a non-attainment area under the Federal Clean-Air Act requiring gasoline sold in the Atlanta market to meet stringent EPA enforced air quality standards, make it more difficult for suppliers to receive fuel.
