That was ugly, but exemplary of what a complete team can accomplish. The offense was colder than Inuit pussy, but tenacious defense (/nojackblack) and consistent free-throw shooting carried the load until the offense could work itself out of the slump.

It was a pretty impressive defensive display against a much bigger/athletic team. Gives me hope in case we run into Villanova in the finals (#firstseedproblems).

AU takes Kentucky down by double digits on the big stage. This game was well publicized and ESPN, in the spirit of what they're doing around basketball in general, both college and NBA, sent a unique announcing group to cover it. PJ Carlesimo and Dan Dakich brought the gruff talking, Yankee flava to the broadcast. Center stage and AU responded like champs.

Despite what I said to WT in a text....yeah, I watched. A lot of times I don't. It's like I'll turn them on, only to watch em' turn the ball over 5 straight times and the other team go from down 5 to up 6. I'm like Charlie Brown with the little Christmas tree. "I've killed it." But I had to see the spectacle tonight. Glad I did!

Keep on kicking Snags' ass, Bruce. I've been your biggest detractor for 3 years, and you are shoving it down my throat. Thank you sir, may I have another?

I really enjoyed the change-up in broadcast crew. Those guys didn't really pull punches and that was entertaining. My only gripe was that, in doing so, they would often neglect the PBP and leave me wondering who caught the foul and how many the guys had.

Yep. More about entertainment than the details. But still kind of brought AU into the big time.

Let me just say, I love this team and Bruce Pearl...but I have a real soft spot in my heart for Desean Murray. I don't know how he does it, but a 6'3" guy should not be getting rebounds and blocks down in the tall pines like he does.

Rebounding was even. 36-35 Kentucky. At their height? That's a win for the Tigers. Amazing.

All this said, it was a nice change of pace to hear that crew. It sounded more like a group of friends watching a game with no skin in it.

I thought he was claiming that he could throw a few head fakes and take it in to jam it home over these guys. At will.

That 6-9 kid Vanderbilt was raking the glass all while we were struggling on offense and when he left with his second foul I thought we might pull away for good but never Ã§ould. McLemore's play offset Heron's poor night and as you say it was the defense that saved us.
I listen to the AU radio broadcasts part of the time for a different take, sort of like I did as a kid. Don't know of others that do this but Sonny can add some insights the telecast can't.

99.5 here locally. There have been a few games I had to catch portions of in the truck. I do agree.
