Home Plate Beer Garden?

No one has even mentioned this yet on here...I thought this board was full of insider e-penis?
Slackers, the lot of you.

http://www.warblogle.com/forums/topic/home-plate-tailgate-new-for-gameday/

Quote
Auburn has released more information on one of their newest gameday enhancements: basically a beer garden in the Plainsman Park Parking lot. The release doesn’t mention alcohol, but I have confirmed that alcohol will be sold. This is a big step towards alcohol sales in the stadium, IYAM.

Auburn has announced Auburn Athletics has introduced the Home Plate Tailgate, a new gameday tailgate area in the Plainsman Park parking lot. The space is open to the public and creates a tailgating destination close to the action of Jordan-Hare Stadium.

On the corner of Heisman and Donahue Dr., the location provides fans all the action of Tiger Walk and the Spirit March. It is also in close proximity to the Verizon Autograph Tent and the Tiger Tailgate Pregame Show near the campus green space.

The Home Plate Tailgate will open four hours prior to kickoff, with a sound stage and local, live entertainment each week. The tailgate will feature TVs for live college football game viewing and tailgate games.

Once in the area, fans will have access to restrooms and tents for shade. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Admission to the area is $5, and tickets may be purchased at the Plainsman Park box office

Fucking BOOOOOOOOOO.

It's like they can't let us just be fans and do shit ourselves.  Part of the experience is setting up your own shit near people you come to know.  Bringing your own food and drinks. And sharing them.

Noooo. They've got to organize the fun out of it.  It's just like little league baseball. When I was a kid we played in a league but it wasn't all-encompassing.  One or two nights a week. A little practice.  Whatever. We still played more often in people's back yards or vacant lots with whatever gear we could find to share. It was fun, not some regimented torture.

Jay is corporatizing every bit of the fun and family out of Auburn with his designated spaces, the "tailgating services", that dumbass TV, the piped-in music, the fucking DJ and now this shit n

College football should be families cooking in the grass under tents they bring. It should be bands and cheerleaders and hot dogs.

Shit like this ruins Auburn for me.

Soooo...rather than tailgate with your own, affordable beer, you can overpay with a bunch of strangers.  Fuck this and/or move it inside the stadium and sell DURING the game.

Agree.

Just another way for Jay to shake people down for another dolla. Just from personal experience, they've ruined the RV tailgating. They've either: pushed it out to nowheresville/Ag field or you have to pay them to hit up the VIP lot. F that. But they're being so nice opening up the gardens on Thursday now instead of Friday morning. How awesome. An extra day to sit in a holding field and wait while the real open on Friday afternoons. Dumb Empty gesture.

Ya know because selling it inside is da work of da devil but outside is strictly within the rules of Jay's holy book. That stupid fuk face.

The day they sell alcohol inside the stadium is the last day I will consider attending an Auburn game.

The DJ and piped in music already has me on that edge.

I was at a high school game Friday and had that three hour wall of noise. They blared shit from the speakers during every break in the action. If it wasn't the Purge horn on third down or hells bells before kickoffs it was some brayed advertisement or random song.  I hated it.  Never heard the bands. Couldn't hear the cheerleaders. Couldn't even talk to the person next to me at any point during the game without shouting.  It was obnoxious. It's not what I want.

No alcohol sales in general seating of SEC venues anyway.

I'm with you guys on most of this other stuff, DJ, the Jumbotron XL4000 scoreboard, etc.  This, I have no problem with.  I go to just about all the home games.  (Looks like I might be missing this one Saturday due to a butt-load of weird circumstances) I either stay at the tailgate we and a bunch of others set up close to Momma G's or I stop by Joe's.  Especially with early season games like this one, I don't feel like messing with it, walking all around campus or sitting outside for hours when it's 92 degrees.

This might be a keen alternative to occasionally say, "It's Mercer.  Screw the tailgate.  I'm going to get in the middle of it and drink over priced beer and eat over priced food and have a shitter at the ready."  Walk back to the car with no clean up after the game.

But how is this a problem?  It's just an option nobody is forcing anyone to take.  The tailgate police aren't going to show up and say, "Shut it down. Tailgating in the Jacobs Beer Garden only."  If you want to go in right by Tiger Walk and grab a brew, a sammich and drain the lizard, you have that option.  If you don't want to, don't.

If only auburn allowed open containers where you could take your own beer anywhere you wanted on campus.

Snags - you can already do what you described. Everywhere on campus sells beer including momma gs and anywhere downtown. Jay just sees an opportunity here to do some more shaking down. Nothing more. If it doesn't involve some type of money making or fundraising he doesn't do it. It's why the tailgate guys took off.

Now that he is selling it near the stadium, expect something really soon that bars anyone from bringing their own anywhere close to that spot. Gotta put that monopoly wall around it.

Shaking you down by offering another option?  How so?  And how do you propose they put restrictions on that area when the big money donors are parking their half million dollar RV's within 10 feet of Tiger Walk? Ain't nevah gonna' happen.

Look, I'm no JJ fan by any stretch.  I thought he was a horrible QB.  But you guys are really stretching it to rip him for this.  So what if it's a money maker for the University of Auburn?  Like I said, if you don't want to go in there, then stay at your tailgate, walk right past the place, eat at Momma G's.  You will never, ever, ever be forced to go in there.
