THS was wondering why the contract (assuming that is the reason he stayed until June) would be written that way. That would meet both the schools and the coaches best options. Because typically a coach isn't going to leave in June and so the school doesn't have to worry about it.
Since he retired (and wasn't fired) it also would mean he is terminating the contract so OU outside of a possible retention bonus (a la June) would not owe him anymore on his contract. Again in the terms of money, I'm sure that is also agreeable to both parties.
