Dilfer was great, they should have let Charles "Marvin the Martian Sounding Ass" Woodson go instead.

I didn't care much for Kanell but I will say this for him, he wasn't afraid to give his dissenting opinion against the big boys of college football.  He was the only non-sheep to say that Ohio State didn't deserve to be in this past years playoffs.  I respected him for that.

Kanell is a douchebag, and should have been fired years ago. Cockstain never once could say something nice about Auburn, and if someone from AU would disagree with him, he'd break out 2013. Fuck him. I hope he goes bankrupt, and his wife leaves him.

Again don't disagree, just saying he was the only guy on the panel last year that said OSU didn't belong in the 4 team playoff.

Agreed, but we both know if FSU was in the mix, he sure as hell wouldn't have been saying they should have been left out.

Coming from someone so sure of the "new America" that he completely misinterpreted, misjudged and misunderstood the American public and directed at someone who recognized, anticipated and applauded the America that truly exists?  Rich. Decadently rich.

Do you ever tire of being utterly and flatulently wrong?

Appears not.

The fall is going to be glorious.

Does anyone really watch ESPN outside of AU (SEC) sporting events, MNF and the occasional sports center?

Certainly not like I used to but probably more than I care to admit. I'll watch some Mike & Mike in the morning while getting ready for work.  I'll check in on the late night SC to update scores and highlights.  No morning SC since that's anchored by the Liberal Douche Crew.

During college foosball season?  Yes!  Yes I do.

ESPN cut Britt McHenry and kept Fat Gremlin Jemele Hill.

That tells you everything you need to know about the failing network.

Yes, wes, they are failing and until/unless they return to professionalism and leave the thugging and mugging to others, it's a death spiral.

Does anybody remember how idiotic the network looked when they trotted Keith Olbermann out there in a tie dyed shirt and a porn mustache with turtlenecked Stuart Scott for the debut of  the new"hip and cool" ESPN2?  F-.  Came to their senses and retooled that fuckarooney.  Too bad they don't have enough sense now to take that worthless lump of goo Jemele Hill get her off the air permanently.  Idiots prevailed.  It will tank.

No worries.  That's pretty high on the agenda at Monday's production meeting.

Perhaps.  The mass, public layoffs aren't a traditionally positive sign.

I'm not dismissing the possibility that they are pivoting to something else entirely.

You seem to think that since they've always been "A", then they must strive to always be "A."  I'm of the opinion that they've decided that "A," while once profitable and groundbreaking, is no longer the format sought by the demographic they desire to serve and they are shifting to "B."

It's this rigidity and slavish devotion to return to some forgotten glory day that is laughable.  It's the death throes of an increasingly irrelevant market segment throwing a tantrum about this new fangled format that I find so funny.

ESPN was at just over 100 million subscribers in 2011. They're down over 12 million since that time.  Is it because people are turning to other places for their sports and/or the way they watch TV?  Is it because the change towards a different demographic has turned so many off?  I have no clue but the fact is they're losing viewers at a steady pace.  They may be targeting a new audience but cutting employees and TV personalities isn't reinventing.  It's cost cutting.

Their refusal (or inability contractually, I don't know which) to offer a stand-alone streaming experience (without tethering to a cable/satellite subscription) is their undoing in my house.
