I'm tired. And I love my wife. I'm so proud of this woman and the ladies she works with. Today was kind of the icing on the cake.
Snagette graduated from AU in Early Childhood Education and taught 2nd graders for right at 25 years. She retired to home school our son for a few years and the last couple of years, she's joined 5-6 other women with the same passion for decorating and refurbishing antiques, furniture etc. and formed their own business. They leased a building and have what they term a "Pop up Market" where they're open once a month for 3 days and they advertise the hell out of it and have created an incredible following.
They decided to hold a one-day market for charity. Through their business, they deal with tons of vendors and as a result, got commitments from about 35 of them to participate in the event they set up for today.
A lady some of them know, offered their home and land to hold the event, which is about 5 miles outside of Dothan. Un-be-freakin-lievable piece of land with rolling hills and a huge pond/lake. They set up tents and got food vendors to commit. My roll, along with one of my buddies, whose woman is involved in all this, was to handle parking and drive a golf cart and Gator, transporting customers to and from the parking lot and venue. Constant from 9:00 A.M. til 4:00 P.M.
They thought 300 people would show. Closer to 1,500 did. The charity was for helping defray the costs for families trying to adopt children both home and abroad. That may be simplifying it a bit because I didn't pay full attention to what the actual cause was. I just know they raised 10's of thousands for a good cause. I also know my wife, the woman I love, but continues to hold my boys captive, worked with several amazing women to pull off an incredible event today. One that helped people and something that will definitely be a staple of this community for years to come.
Don't give a shit what crap I take. Proud of that woman!
