I think I said this on here at the beginning of the season...I know I did somewhere anyway. The Cubs are a true leadoff man away from having a team that could contend for the WS. Now that they have Quintana and hopefully Hendricks comes back strong off the DL, they really don't need another starter.

True. Also, from what I understand from the talking heads, wouldn't Darvish be just basically a rental for the remainder of the season? That wouldn't make sense to trade gold for silver. The only way I see Darvish comes to the Cubs if if Darvish signs some sort of deal that has him in Chicago for a couple years.

What's their farm system look like? Are they mortgaging the future to pay for success the next 2-4 years?

Just traded away their last top 100 prospect to get Quintana. The farm has been reaped.

They still have a good bit of talent from what my little pee wee brain understands. Regardless, it wouldn't make much sense at all to trade for rental. The one thing I believe the Cubs are looking at is what will be their pitching situation next year. Still though, I don't see Darvish to the Cubs happening, imo.

Edit: The Twins signed Ynoa as an international free agent in 2014. MLB.com ranks him as the 22nd-best prospect currently in the Twins system. MLB.comâ€™s Mark Bowman reports that the Twins are assuming the remainder of Garciaâ€™s contract.

And Ynoa is 19 years old.
